I am ready to dump the truck off as a trade in. If you noticed I have another thread asking for advise if I should keep my truck or buy a diesel. It doesn't state in there the problems I am having with mine.

I decided to keep my truck thinking when I took it to edmonton it would be fixed and it would just be the local dealer thats a crook.

IF I do keep it, I need to put some mods on it to make it better for hauling 5000lbs of water on a trailer. Exuhaust, chip, cold air intake and air bags. I'm hopiing this will help, but it will screw up warranty. This wouldn't be such a issue if I wans't having problems with the truck. But with the major problems I have with it (friend CPU, 4x4) I am thinking I should buy the extended warranty. But if I do that I can't do my mods to make it better to tow.

Sadly, I actually do love the truck.... If the problems weren't there I would be the first guy on this site saying how much I love it. Becauuse I do, but my opinion is clouded by the service.
I see its a catch 22 here. But now if the dealership claims there is nothing wrong with the truck that means its still new, so couldnt you trade it in without barely loosing any value. I would go to your wonderful dealership and tell them to take this truck back and set me up with a diesel, especially with the specials they are having on them. It might cost you a lil more to upgrade but at least you would have this truck off your hands. If i didnt put so much money into my truck i would go tomorow and trade it in with a diesel, anytime. Especially when your hauling 5000 lbs of water.

And as for the mods it doesnt void warranty unless they can prove that the specific part caused whatever to malfunction. I bring my truck in regularely for service and warranty and nothing was even mentionned with all of what i have on my truck, instead they park it in front of the dealership as display! Plus with all those mods it wouldnt make enough of a difference that youd look for, not compared with a stock diesel. All the money youd put in it might as well get a diesel, trust me im there now. But good luck and keep us updated.

Sad story man.

My truck was two days old and got stuck in ERS 4. Then wouldn't start. I hooked up an OBDII tester it spit out 37 codes.

Dealer sent a tow truck to pick it up and asked for 48 hours to fix it. They couldn't fix it. So they delivered an identical replacement truck to my driveway with new paperwork all complete, only needed my signature. This was a dealership that I had never done business with before.

Needless to say: "Me very happy" and no problems with replacement truck.

The returned truck took 37 days to diagnose and repair. It must have been one of those "Monday" trucks.

Capital Dodge has a Demo.

Dodge 2500 MegaCab Laramie, Diesel.
12,000km.
They have it listed for, $53,000. But I know they will go as low as $48k

Exhaust, chip, cold air intake will not help much if any for towing or hauling...racing yes. They are designed for performance increases predominantly at WOT (wide open throttle).

Air bags will help moderately for squat and stability.

4.10 or 4.56 gears would be the best way to enhance your towing.

The problem with trading it in...

My trucks value as a trade in (verifed by several dealerships)- 22k

What I owe on it - 32 K...

So I am out 10,000$... If I buy a 45,000 truck my loan will be 53,000 with the difference of the trade in and current loan..

Trust me I punched numbers over and over.. All comes out the same.

I found a really nice 2008 Chev 3/4 diesel LTZ off road 70,000km's.

All said and done if I bought this truck for 31,500 my payments would be for 6 years - 775$.

I have 5 years left on my dodge and paying 600$ a month.

So an extra 175$ a month for 6 years.. compared to 600 for 5 years.

I thought for a week about that truck and decided to keep my truck and go the trailer route (to haul water) and hope I don't have any major repairs with it.

If I bought a new 40 k deisel, my 6 year payments would be like 900$ a month.

The best thing that could happen to me is to hit a moose on the highway..

True.. The 4.10's will go in with the air bags..

The chip, exhaust and cold air would be for milage increases.. the hemi has lots of pulling power..

I c. Whatever you do dont go and buy a chevy haha, thats just going down the latter now. So if i understand you still have the water leaking problem, and the transfer case being your biggest one. What are the chances of going back to your dealership and just try and get them to fix the problem, water has to come through either the back window or the 3rd break light. And for the 4x4 can't they just fix it, change the hole transfer case it has to be warranty work or something (its not normal). Just dont let some stupid incompetent people put you in the hole, your the one giving them money to put food on their plate. If not like you said go to chrysler just dont give up, they are really nice trucks when they work!

That's the truth ^.

Here's a few ideas:

- Follow Canada's lemon law to the best of your ability. If there is a loop hole, the dealer will find it, so do the best you can.
- Continue to document your problems via video. Don't just show the results, film your entire water test.
- Does Canada have an equivalent to the Better Business Bureau or Bureau of Consumer Affairs? If so, file a claim.
- Do whatever you can to contact the manufacturer direct. The dealer won't let you, but write letters and call. Here is the customer service line for Dodge: 800-922-1997 Cause a ruckus, but keep cool. Keep calling.

The end goal is to get to arbitration. It might not happen, but you've got a lot of money on the line. How long will it take you to earn that $10k? Unfortunately, you've got to work for it twice. Best of luck.
