returned to the fold, long read deal story!
Well after trading in my 06 Ram QC TRX4 offroad a couple of years back for a Charger SRT I have officially returned to the fold as a 4 Gen owner of a 2011 Big Horn Quad Cab deep water blue. Was a little leary of the blue color as I prefer black or red but I think it will grow on me. The chrome handles really accent it well. Seems like it was destiny to own this truck. Went to a dealer last nite for pretty much the same truck but in black, they first said it would be 33,000 OTD but then reneged<sp> and said they wanted 2500 more on my trade in for my charger after they started doing the official paperwork. Century dodge in Wentzville Mo will never see me again. No wonder they lost their dealership 2 years ago, should have never got it back.
Living in the STL area gives me alot of choices. Well another dealer had the same truck in black on their website, so I went down to them pretty much assuming the same would happen. It was sold. They had it in Deep Blue so after much debate I said ok let's give it a try.
Well finally after whatever weird twilight thing happened and they got what I wanted to pay. Stilled owed 31k on the charger and ofcourse that was the sticky part of the deal because they first only offered 26K for the charger. Just stuck my ground at 33k and the salesman(Lambert) somehow someway got it down there to 32,387 OTD. Paid the charger off in full and rebates. I would say I got a good 9 to 10K in rebates. Because they are going to be hard pressed to sell that charger for anything above 31k. Shoot paid 33K for it new 2 years ago. Financed it for 48 months which is the same amount of months I had left on the charger and the payment was a tad lower. So pretty refinaced but got a new vehicle.
They first offered me 5.03% for 62 months. I said I just bought another car a couple weeks back(which I did, chevy cruze great little car) and got 2.1% and that's what I wanted here also. He worked with the same bank and got me 2.7%, wasn't going to argue over .6%. They really worked with me and got me to where I wanted. Anyone in the STL area wants a new dodge I would highly recommend Mid Rivers Dodge in St. Pete. Didn't attempt to haggle for free bedliner as I think they gave me a good deal. Bought the maintenance package for 3 years also for like 400 bucks, pretty much free oil and tire rotates. I think that's worth it. Though it took me from 10am to like 4pm to complete the deal. They were busy which is a good thing, glad to see the dealerships getting good business now.
I have learned a lesson on buying cars now. I have read this many times just tell them what you want to pay, don't fall into the payment scam. Did that when I bought the cruze a couple of weeks ago and did the same today and I think it worked out well. Also not falling in to the inequity on trade in either. Did it too much in the past and your pretty much in the hole for ever. Before I would just get all excited and say what the heck and just take what they offered without pushing back too much. Now I'm older and wiser! Well thanks for the read. The truck so far is really nice, that 390Hp on the hemi does have a noticeable increase in get up and go then my old 345HP hemi truck did. Course nothing will match 425 HP of pure american muscle of the charger! It was fun but the truck will be nice to haul stuff and deal with the winter snows.
Thanks for the long read.
