Default Borla XR-1 on 2010 RAM

I have 2 3in borla xr-1 mufflers and I was wondering if anyone has them on their ram, and how does it sound. I already had them so I figured I would try them out, but I don't want to regret it. I'm not looking for a loud muffler just mellow deep rumble.

I've put the xr-1's on vehicles before and they were very loud. They will probably be a bit more mellow on a vehicle with cats, but still loud. If you're looking for deep and mellow, go with the Borla ProXS. That's what I have on my truck and it sounds great.

Yea they were very loud on the camaro i had them on before, but that was with headers and no cats. I have a truck with dual exhaust from the factory, so it has a couple of resonators between the muffler and the tips. With cats and resonators Im hoping it wont be too loud. I already have the mufflers and cant afford new ones now.

I wonder if putting one with a y pipe after or a y pipe before and using both mufflers would make much difference in the sound?

I got them put on and to me it sounds awesome. Its not too loud, and has no drone at all. Here is a video of them. Not great quality, but it will work i guess.

The XR-1 is pretty loud, I know someone with one on a catless Chevy Z71 with 350 CI V8.

It is however a VERY good flowing muffler, among the higher CFM rates out there. IMO if you get this muffler you also need to increase flow before the muffler. Modern stock Ram cats are actually pretty free flowing, but that stock "Y" is terrible. Ditch the "Y" and be thinking CAI as well. This is also a VERY GOOD muffler for headers and/or headworked engines....

Did you end up using both with a "y"?
