New truck, new member...
I didn't see an "introduction" area, so I thought I'd post here. I've added to a couple threads today after signing up, thought I'd take a minute to say hello.
I bought a Dodge Ram 1500 Sport Crew Cab 4x2 on Saturday, and have been looking here (and also over at *********.com) for various bits and pieces of information - succeeding in finding useful stuff on most occasions. My truck was bought off the lot (not ordered) - Deep Cherry, Leather, 430N, Remote Start, Class IV hitch, ParkView Camera, Sport Premium Group and Sport Performance Hood.
I've already downloaded and applied the "TraveLink" update to my 430N, and have been loading up the HDD since last night (the USB transfer rate is crazy clow). I did some testing with my iPhone and iPod on the BT and USB interfaces, but it seemed to be lacking (which is par for the course with OEM systems in my experience). I guess the "phone" features for the iPhone work well enough - it's just the "iPod" features that are lacking, particularly BT streaming (though another update may fix that).
I'm planning/shopping for a bed cover, and am leaning towards a "retractable" cover. If I were to buy today it would be a Pace-Edwards JackRabbit, though I have more research to do. I may cheap out and throw a rubber mat in the bed as opposed to a full spray-in liner, only because the bed will be hidden under that cover anyway. I can always do the spray-in later.
This weekend I'll probably get the Dremel after the OEM brake controller cubby to make room for my trusty Tekonsha Prodigy P3. That looks to be the best place to put it, and if I cut the bottom out the unit itself will block most of my handiwork. Worst case, I'll replace the cubby and draw up new plans.
Last year I towed about 8000 (of 15000) miles with my Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon - either my bass boat or my (small) RV - and the more I did, the more I felt like I was pushing my luck, living on borrowed time. I was gentle with the tranny, faithful with the fluid changes (including synth in the diffs), and never got an overheat, but I felt like I'd be happier with a stronger tow vehicle, so I kept it in the family and traded in the Jeep on the Ram.
I look forward to learning from your experiences and hope I can help out with the occasional chip-in myself.

Really? Those things just pop right off? I'm assuming there's paint under them. I'll have to check that out!

Can't see pic on this blackberry but if it is the black tape stuff on door pillars between front and back doors, I have to check this out. My drivers side door one is starting to come unstuck where it tucks around to the window.
Browsing another forum (*********.com), the removal of the flat black on the doors is a pretty popular mod, as is the replacement of the flat black with gloss to match with dark windows. I'm giving it thought. I was also intrigued by the rampant use of Plasti-dip over there (it's not just for tool handles anymore!).
