Other then with the Magnaflow muffler my MDS is seamless. Stock muffler it was hardly noticable and to no one not knowing the truck on a drive with it they'd never have a clue when it switches. Works great. When my 'fuel saver light' comes on then off I can hear MDS coming on and off. I had a re flash done on my 09 early on for bump stop.It changed MDS operation. If it is a pain 'in traffic' just use the 5th gear select. I've done that a few times in really bad stop and go.

Updates for that done at the dealer when the K-36 recall was done today.Had the shudder when running in drive at lower speed city driving and also when slowing down for a light I had the harsh downshift into 4th.They did an update for shifting issues listed and my R/T drives and shifts like it should now........Just a heads-up if you have these shifting issues.......JB.

+1

I had the update done yesterday to my 2011 and it got rid of the shudder and odd shifting that coincided with the MDS kicking on / off in town.

I think MDS is a wonderful idea, however, as I stated before I think it would have been neat had dodge made it a selectable on/off option for the driver. In my instance, I would LOVE to have all 8 cylinders when I'm driving in the city, and then have the treat to put it in MDS mode when I'm cruising down backroads or on the highway to save fuel. Oh well.

You do. Just use the1 through 5 selector. It turns MDS off. If in town you don't need/use 5th gear.

I don't know what you mean by use 5th gear? Are you talking about using sequential shift mode to manually drive through town? Or as Bill O'Reilly would put it "Okay, I don't know what that is, I've never seen that before"

Yes the select shift. It makes fourth gear high gear and no MDS.

I just got a 2012 Ram 1500 ST QC last week and thought i'd ask you guys with more miles on them about the MDS. It seems it's only effective up to 35mph or between 50 and 60mph..... even at 60 the wind resistance is too great sometimes and it cycles on and off, same with 35 to 45mph if i hit a tiny hill. I'm sure the 3.55 gears don't help but that's what came standard. Just wondering if this is how it works for you guys. Also i Did a 20 mile highway run at 65mph, MDS was only on 50% of the time due to wind and i calculated it, i only got 10.6mpg....then i did another run at 60mph and eco was on the whole time, averaged 20.1mpg...engine only has 300 miles so does it need to be better broken in or do you really get that bad of mileage without MDS? I did use 2 different pumps to full up (someone was using the original one) so idk if that made a huge difference. I also used 87 octane this is before i found out they are suppose to have 89, a guy i work with claims he gets 2mpg better from the 89....

All that you said is normal. Yes it will better mileage as it gets miles put on it.

Alright so today I bought this "ecometer" by Autometer gauges that plugs into your OBDII port and displays rpms, speed, avg mpg and instant mpg. If this thing is at all accurate i get about 23ish mpg at 60mph then when the light comes on that says "ECO ON" it actually DROPS to 16 ish.... WTF?
