Default oil

so i want to know your opinion on what oil is the best out there. I know it comes down to your personal opinion but i usually use penzoil/quaker synthetic 5w20 but am looking into lucas since i got a couple buddies who swear by it and one of our distributors here has it for a wicked price.

while your at it, i need to change the rear diff oil, any thoughts on that ?

I have always been a fan of Mobile one and use that every 5K in the truck using the Mopar Filters. Just did my rear and front differentials last weekend used the Mobile 1 75-140W in the rear and the Mobile 1 75-90W in the front. It's not a bad job really just the pain of clearing off all of the RTV.

Conventional Valvoline,or Castrol...The synthetic line would be Valvoline Synpower or Castrol Edge........Most important is to use a high quality filter, like K&n,Mobil One,Wix....Honestly,you can use any brand out there, that meets the Chrysler spec MS6395,without concern. My personal opinion is that if you travel many miles in a short period of time,I would use Synthetic oil.Short trip vehicles I would use conventional oil.Or if you have the old ways of changing your oil at 3,000 miles, use conventional. If you can make yourself go to 5,000-6,000 miles, use synthetic.Just my opinion.

Stick with the Penzoil/QS that you already use and like. I'm personally not too fond of some Lucas products from reading about them on the oil forums.

I used the Lucas oil additive once in my 2005 Dodge Daytona 5.7 4x4.There was no problems using it.Although I have heard the probability of foaming using it in gear boxes.I remember someone saying it was more like a subtractive, than an additive.I have never used it since.

Today's oils need no help. Additives in oil screw with the oil formula which is great the way it is. www.bobistheoilguy.com All the boring reading you could ask for about oils and lubes. It is a informative site.
