Default Rail Caps

Anyone have pics of their caps removed? Mine are warping in the heat because the bed rails won't allow for expansion. I want to remove them and get Line-X but before I take the rails and the tonneau off, I want to make sure it's not going to look stupid.

i was told that under the caps is a series of holes. When I was having my bedliner applied they recommend that I do not remove the caps because of these holes

I was afraid that there would be a bunch of alignment holes!

I think the only answer would be to file or grind or cut the plastic parts that go into the holes on the sides to allow movement but then you risk paint wear it's a catch 22, I wonder if the most of the clips were trimmed completely off and some two way tape, the good automotive stuff or heavy duty velcro then it can move the small amount it needs too and still keep its form? I don't know but I am thinking about trying something since I am not impressed, in fact I think that should be sealed so salt a crap doesnt sit under there.

I agree, since my truck is under warranty they will get replaced, but after that they will be yanked off and double sided tape will be the fix. I would think they wouldn't do it at all, but....you know how plastic is.

I think someone makes black diamond plate rail covers. I thought it was lund. I think it was around $150 for the pair. That's the route I'm going when mine give up the punch.

Thanks guys. I thought that my bed rails were causing the problem (not letting the caps expand) but you guys are getting the warping with no rails on??? There seems to be plenty of expansion room at the clips!

Man is it ugly under there!! lol

It's Dee Zee that sells the metal rail covers. They come in various colors and with or without diamond plate texture.

The look pretty slick in the pictures, especially the black chrome diamond plate, but I've never seem them installed in person.

Wow. Thanks for the heads up on the Dee Zee plates. I was wondering when someone would make something for this F'up.
Kind of embarrassing for Ram to have some aftermarket company go and fix this eh?
That along with the chrome bezel on the center console have to be the worse design ideas yet on a Ram.
Could you just affix a plate underneath and just fill the slots with bed liner?
