Default noob with a noob question

OK So I just bought my 2011 1500 ST Quad cab. Got nothing but great things to say about it and love it to death. BUT it is only a basic truck no whistles. I have been looking around online for a few things that I noticed and the wife would like to have but don't know were to get a good deal or any thing like that. First off the wife would like a back up camera for the truck and I noticed that there are a lot out there to choose from. I also noticed the most of the stuff that the dealership (Stealership has i have seen it called around here) says you need the touch screen and hard drive (Not a big deal that was the next part of the question). But I cant find any thing online for the 2011 touch screen unless I deal with dealer. any help would be nice spanks guys.

If you wind up purchasing accessories from the dealer I would check at more than one dealer if possible. I would also attempt to negotiate the price as many dealers are willing to deal on parts just like they deal on the price of a new vehicle.

I'd also check the aftermarket stereo/camera options. You'll get a lot more bang for your buck going that route than buying OEM. There are several guys on here with aftermarket setups, and I've not heard a single one who weren't happy with what they got.

You could also check your local salvage yards for a wrecked 2009/2010 and get the touchscreen out of one of those.

Also been thinking about getting a brush guard or something to protect the front of my truck. There are a lot of training areas out in Oklahoma they tell us to go to that I am looking at getting this http://www.autotrucktoys.com/ram/Dee...a-83636310d46a But as always advice would be nice. Oh also talked to the wife she is going to have are neighbor next time hes at the salvage yard look for the cams and touch screen see if he can rip it out and work thanks for the advice guys

Yes you do get the best bang, however for those guys that want a "clean" install, meaning no custom work. Sometimes its better to go factory. Even to put a double din HU in there would still be a little difficult gut because the display sizes are different, not to mention the electronics in these trucks are dreadful. BUT I have never messed around with the decks in these new trucks so I don't know exactly, but I know I needed modules for my 07.

If your going to go aftermarket, best be to look into exactly what you need, and what you are willing to pay to get it. Might still be cheaper to go factory :S

the last time I messed with any deck was in my first car. I know with what the dealer was saying I can get it put in and covered under the new truck warranty in less then 45 mins. I just dont like the price for every thing I want done. The remote start (Be a life saver in the winter and summer times since I have to leave my vehicle out on the side of the road for 8 hrs at a time while I work on my Army toys) the back up cam with the touch screen nav system (Better then the mirror can see more of the kids toys in the way when pulling out of the drive way and get into a little parking spot at my battalion) I know I dont have to get it all at once but I want to suck it up and get it done before I get home from Iraq while I still got the extra cash floating around.
