Working on new Laramie
I need a little help- I have a 2009 Ram crew 1500 big horn with 19000 miles its in perfect condition. I am looking at a 2011 crew 1500 Laramie. Its a dealer demo with 7500 miles on it. I love my ram and just want to upgrade . The 2011 stickers at 42950.00. All of the Laramie trucks on the lot are 9000.00 off. They took another 1000.00 off for the miles. They offered me the truck for 32500.00 and 20500.00 for my trade. Can they do better? What do yall think? Really like this 2011 but don't want to leave money on the table.
Its hard for me to relate because I purchased my fully loaded 11 sport for 32000 CAD (with air canada deal!) its a regular 58000 or so, so I guess you might be able to compare that.
BUT I do know of some people buying the demos, one person complained because it never had a proper inspection/maintenance done. I don't mean looking around, yup everything is good. He asked that because it was a demo, he wanted ALL maintenance done just to be sure. Oil changed, transmission fluids changed, everything topped up, and EVERYTHING looked over. (you never know what the people driving those demos do) The dealer said yup everything was done before the vehicle went to sale. When the guy went in to get the oil changed, he figured out it was never done so he ran 12000kms with no oil changed, not to mention the truck was not constantly washed. This truck was a 2011...
I guess if your looking at a demo be sure that you get proof that everything has been done on it. Especially that it has 7500miles.

Ya know, 5000 a year in depreciation (trading up 2 years) isn't that bad! The new one will have new tires, not as much warrantee, and is 2 years newer.
Especially if the new one has more "stuff" on it. If your old one is more loaded, then I'd think again! Get them to throw in things like spray in bed liner, and as others mentioned, a fresh oil change (and maybe some more free ones)
Then look at your truck payment. Is it the same?
Or, consider waiting another year for a 12 or 13.......

I would like to keep my note the same as it is now. My current truck doesn't really have a lot of options. It's an slt big horn. I just feel that the Laramie could be priced lower due to the miles. Demo is a dealer word for used.
at this time of the year with the '012s just around the corner, getting a used '011 doesn't make sense to me, especially if the engine & trans are the same. How would you feel if the '013s come out with a true 6 speed tranny or even a new 8 speed? There are also some spy pictures circulating of the new Ram facelift (with cladding to hide it of course). Just some things to consider. If you really want the Laramie and can afford it! go ahead and make the best deal you can, but your instincts are usually right and yours right now, are saying don't do it.

I had planned on keeping my current truck for a while until I saw this potential deal. Upgrade while paying the same note if possible. I feel as if the combination of the 2012's coming in and this being a dealer demo should really allow me to get this truck cheap. Same note on 2011 laramie loaded as my 2009 big horn Ill take it and worry about the 2013's when the time comes. maybe this will even put me i a better trade position for a 2013. Thanks for the help.
7500 miles seems like a hell of a lot for a demo! I have a 2011 that I bought on 2/18/11 and only have 5500 miles on it and it is my daily driver. Granted I don't drive far each day but still. Most test drives are a few miles each at most. 7500 miles would be a heck of a lot of test drives, people would have to be waiting in line each day to take a spin to put that many miles on it.
Yep, that's a lot of miles for a demo - they usually try to move them around 4,000 miles.
My brother works for a Chrysler dealer, and has a 200 mile commute, one way. He was putting 1,000 miles a month on his "demo" truck - and gets a new one every 3-4 months. (He only worked 6-8 days a month, and dealership put him up in a motel while he was there. He's now down to 3-4 days a month, and likes it even better - one commute a month)
