Default Overall Newbie.

Ok, new to the site, new to Dodge (had a Ram in 95). Have had Fords for ever and ended up buying a 2012 Laramie (black crewcab). First of all I made the change because after pricing this time, it seemed, to me, that I was going to get a lot more in options than the Ford had. I had just received a 2012 F150 Platinum. Man this thing was nice. Every option you could think of. It was a company vehicle and the company went under. In any case, had to go looking for another ride. Ended up at Dodge and was very impressed. Almost all the options I had on the Platinum and about $10000.00 less. It drives like a dream and love everything about it so far.
I also need to mention that I love to mod and wanted to know how you all are starting out the mods on these things. 5.7 Hemi. I am thinking about a CAI to start. What are the recommendations on this and other simpler mods?

Congrats on the purchase! Post a pic of your truck, we'd all like to see!

Honestly I put CAI on my truck and it really didn't do much except give the truck a little bit more growl under the hood. Alot of people just put a K&N Filter in the stock air box, if I could go back I would go that route. Some cheap easy mods are exhaust (i just replaced my muffler with a magnaflow had it welded in for about 175 total), tint your windows, LED interior lights...

agreed pics are good! You will find that it will not upset you!

Honestly for me I have started by just adding appearance things. Chrome handles, box covers, etc: I have heard that these newer trucks have such a high flow airbox, all you need to do as Mikey said is put a K&N filter in.

I am going to tune my truck once bullydog releases a tune for the 2011. But honestly this truck runs and acts soo nice, there really is not a whole lot to do to it! Not to mention some dealers get quite finniky about warranty. Some people pull the resonators from the exhaust but I dont know how much you actually acquire from that.

I mean its up to you, but for me this truck is soo superb already that I find I don't want to do any major mods on it!

I think you'll find that stereo mods are the best thing the truck needs. Then stuff like getting the chrome off that trim ring around the shifter console. That chrome ring SUCKS A$$, when the sun is beaming down on it and getting in your eye.
I routed out the detente on the door holders so the door doesn't close and hit me in the a$$ when parked on any kind of a hill.
Steps are nice, muffler swap, bed covers, bed liners, LED interior lights, bed lights, HID headlights, or Silverstar bulbs. Anything to get the truck to light up better. (The headlights SUCK A$$ BTW) So lots of things that won't affect your warranty can be done quickly and cheaply. Tirre and wheel changes are a little more pricey, as are lifts, bags, New hood, etc...

BTW....Good forum name too...that is the license plate on my '65 Shelby Cobra. Well FANGS anyway....close.

I just took my resonators off and it gave it a little more umphh to it on start up and when I punch it!!

Like Ramulak said lighting on this truck! Especially with the headlights seem horrible, I adjusted mine up and it sure made an improvement w/ the crappy stock bulbs (If you do a search you'll find out how takes 5 minutes to do). I actually just ordered HIDS w/ projectors can't wait for them to get here!!

I definitely will be putting the HIDs for both headlights and fog lights, some LEDs for the taillights. What kind of LEDs can go on in the inside of the vics? any good products that work?
Good advice on the CAI...might change my mind on that one.
Any good ideas on stereo for CD/DVD player subs and amps? Just bought my first Dodge two days ago.
