BakFlip and BakBox installed
My Bakflip F1 and BakBox were waiting at the door last night when I got home but it was late so I installed them today after work.
There were no shims included but after reading several posts on this forum I went ahead and picked up some foam weather tape. But I don't think I need them as the cover seems to be fitting correctly with the seals on the side of the cover even with the outside edges of the rails which I'm assuming is correct.
The installation took a little longer than I thought it would but I took my time making sure I had tight seals around the perimeter.
My initial impressions of the cover are that it is a solid unit. I ran the hose on it and there is a little bit of leaking near the front where the rails meet the drop in bed liner so I might try to fix that. But it's not a big deal for me since all the crap I keep in there is for the boat.
The Bakbox was also an easy install. But I was a little disapointed that you cant get it all the way to the front of the truck bed because the plates on the rails up front keep it from sliding all the way up. But I guess if it did go all the way forward you wouldn't be able to get into it!!
I'm not very impressed with the veclro system for the bakbox but we'll see how that hold up over time. I guess the KISS rule applies here.
Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase and I'll have to get some pictures of the truck when it's daylight.
Next task is to debadge the truck. I got the "Laramie" badge off and I want to take the RAM 1500 badges off the doors.
