Cool New Retro Lights

Hi All I just ordered some Retro headlights from Jeremy, and was wondering if anyone could suggest a nice and white highbeam, because I cant run Hid highbeams because the Daytime running lights are in there, thought I would ask because you guys know a ton about this stuff thanks for the replies

You won't need your halogen highs after you get the retrofit. They'll have high beams in the projector.

Not true...He has a sport according to his signature so if he has a sport he should have the quad headlights. If you have the dual headlights yes it's built into one bulb... So the high beam is a separate bulb. So the high beam bulbs will still kick on if he flashes them. He is looking for a new whiter bulb just for the high beam assembly....from what I am understanding?

A few guys over on the DT forum switched to Phillips Xtreme (I'm pretty sure) and were really satisfied w/ them. Other than that I'd say Silverstar Ultras? I just left mine as is, since you won't need your highs if you get HID's in your low beams.

As far as i know the connector is still the same regardless of duals or quads. It still has a voltage on the left and a voltage on the right. Its just the difference in building of the headlight. The quads would use on voltage for lows, and the other side for the highs. In a dual if you look at the bulb its actually a two part bulb. One voltage activates the lower filament, and the other the high.

I COULD BE WRONG! but it would not make sense to me otherwise.

Having said this, it could be hard to say what he needs. because it all depends on the retro. I don't know this Jeremy guy and how he builds his lights. I know some guys retro fit into a regular quad setup for those that want separate actuated beams or those who have duals and don't want to pay for new headlights. Some will retro it to fit projectors, others HIDs, all depends on the maker I think. AND the fact that if this retrofitter really knows how to wire, he could make an HID system work with DRLS with relay setups.

Thats just what I am getting from guys here that are way overpriced it seems, in Canada!

Yea im not sure, about that it seems complicated, which i believe it is, making the Hids work on high beam, if you have 12 volts to turn you highbeams on, and 6 volts are used when your Drls are on, i dont think Hid bulbs have to different filaments on them i think its just gas that gets ignited so i dont think its possible??

No they don't, I was referring to a regular stock halogen bulb and how they get High beams out of a single bulb. HIDS are done 3 ways. If you have quads its all separate, bulb for low, bulb for high. In a dual setup you either have 1 bulb with HID low and a halogen high. Which would work very similar to a regular bulb except 1 "side" has a gas filled bulb, and the other "side" has a filament. OR you can have a telescopic bulb, this is basically 1 bulb that operates on a solenoid. It moves back in the socket and up a little so that it can "seem like a high beam"

As far as getting the HIDS to work on a drl circuits there are different ways of doing it, anyone who is experienced in relays, diodes, etc should be able to figure it out. It gets kinda complicated to your regular joe. The biggest thing that I could see is you might hit that price point a little quick, depending on how you do it, and how much your willing to spend on getting it to work.

Depends a lot on your equipment too. I have HIDs in my high beams and my DRL circuit is still on. But in my ballasts are a voltage regulator, or something along those lines. Because its only 4v its not enough to get by whatever regulator they use so it stops the circuit until there is enough, in this case 12V. Prevents the coils from being undervoltaged.

you will be looking for a 9005 for the high beams. And you will want either a phillips extreme or a sylvania silverstar ultra.

Just put hid'd in the fogs and with hid lows and fog you'll never use your high beams again
