2500 crew 4x4 gas mileage help??????????
Ok I went from a 04 2500 quad 4x4 with a 5.9 Cummins which was great to a 2010 2500 crew 4x4 with a 5.7 gas and 4:10 rear end, which is nice but the gas mileage is starting to hurt. I ocasionally pull a light (3.500 lb camper or car hauler)
I didn't want to deal wth the emissions on the new 6.7 Cummins and the $7K diesel package hit when I bought in 2010
I am getting like 12mpg around town and 14 on the Highwat 13 if I drive 80ish (speed limit here is 75mph). I run 285 tires with computer adjusted for tire size. evertihing else is stock. with 12,000 miles on the clock now.
1) swap out 4:10s for like 3:73s. what will it cost can dealer reset the computer? will it help much
2) exhaust up grade??
3) cold air set up ??
I am still under warranty of another 24K and want to be covered
4) go back to a 5.9 cummuns?

I hate to tell you man, but I am right here with you, this is what a gas 2500 gets. I couldnt afford the extra 10 grand up front for the cummins.
If you drop down from 80 to 70 you will see a significant change in mpgs. You can easily get 16-17. anything above 70 is where your mpgs suffer big time. I actually just drove a 500 mile trip where the speed limit was all over from 55 to 70. and let me tell you the first 3/4 of the trip the gas gauge barely mood, the last bit doing 75-80 my gauge dropped quickly.
