Now the 66RFE in the '12 2500's is the 6speed you want.
Dawizman, know anyone using the 66RFE tranny? Heard any reports? With the lower gearing it should help out on the hills.

The 66RFE is only used behind the 5.7 Hemi on 2012 2500s, including Power Wagon. The 3500s now get the Aisin-Warner AS68RC, which replaced the 68RFE.

Best regards,
Dusty

Thanks for the info Dusty, I was aware that they were only putting the 66RFE in the trucks above. I know it was a little off topic of this thread, but since it was brought up I thought I'd see what others knew of the performance of the new 66RFE. You know anyone driving the a new 2012 5.7 Hemi 2500. You can see what I'm drivin' up above. Been kickin' around the idea of a new truck and just lookin' for info.

I am and I love the truck. This is my first Dodge and my first auto in a lot of years (previous truck was an '05 F250 PSD 6spd) so I can't offer much by way of comparison. But it shifts quiet and smooth under load and most of the time it doesn't feel like it's searching for a gear. It's definitely adaptive somehow because the shift patterns are a little weird when I first put the plow on until it "learns" how I'm driving. Same thing when the plow comes back off. No real complaints about the truck and certainly not about the tranny.

Finally got a hold of an acquaintance that has a new 2500 set up for snow plowing. For what it's worth.

We haven't had a lot of snow around here this year, but he said that he has no complaints whatsoever with the transmission on his. He also said he had no issues with his 545RFE either, but he thought the new transmission was better and that going through the gears seems smoother than his previous 2007 and it had better low speed acceleration. He also said he thought the gas mileage was better, but he couldn't estimate how much.

Regards,
Dusty

Thanks for the info on the 66RFE guys!! Sounds like that power generated is more efficiently put on the ground in 2500 pickups with the 66RFE. Definitely a step in the right direction.
