Anything out there for better MPG?
hey guys, i have a 2011 1500 hemi with 3:92's,bone stock except for a catback exhaust. I try to drive pretty easy and i drive alotta highway miles and i also fill up with 89 octane fuel since new. ive just broke 20k miles on the truck and my average mileage is 14-16 MPG. Is this roughly what everyone else is getting? 89 octane in my town is now $4.10 and rising fast i was wondering if there was anything i could do to possibly get better mileage? Methonol injection? Which i relize this application is mostly focused on vehicles towing pretty heavily but would Snow performance's MPG MAX kit be effective at all? Or possibly a Hydrogen Generator? Or maybe even something im not familiar with? Any advice would be great guys i appreciate it!!
^ THIS... Although I hear that Prius mod works pretty well too, although a bit pricey...
Although in all seriousness if there is a modification out there that pays for itself in fuel savings alone in a short enough period of time to make it beneficial I have yet to see it. An efan comes about the closest...

You cant cheat physics, you want 400hp and a 7000lb brick you are going to have to pay for it. I can get 14mpg or 18mpg on the highway depending how I drive. In the city, well, it just sucks, but my wifes AWD hemi Jeep Commander makes this truck look like a Prius..
Does anyone really think that if Dodge could safely and reliably (and warranty it for 100K miles) get 1-2 more MPG they wouldnt do it themselves and reap the advertising benefits?
Cold air intakes that screw with MAF readings and lean the engine, tunes with raised timing, even leaner cruise a/fs then they already have (that can damage cats), turning off MDS, shift points, whatever. They may help a little here and there but why risk blowing your warranty because of it.
Best thing you can do is vote for whoever you think is smart enough to figure out how to lower gas prices to 2.00 a gallon. Not only does 4.00 a gallon gas kick your butt, it raises the prices for just about everything..
I put a little taller tire on mine 275/65/R20 on mine to take some of the gear out of the rear end and it helped a little bit (1-2 MPG). Of course you dont want to be buying tires before you need to but its something to think about when you get there.
It's all about how you drive. I've had my truck up to 21mpg average during the summer time. That was absolutely babying it as much as I possibly could and getting the MDS to kick on as much as was humanly possible. Not sure where you live but I live in Iowa so during the winter the mileage drops from around 19-21 highway to more like 16-17 highway.
Some of my drop though can be attributed to my lead foot since having my 14" Magnaflow installed last month!
