Default Two Year Review

Picked up my Ram 4x4 Laramie Crew 2 years ago today here is my review:

Mileage: 73375
Hours: 2010
Gas Mileage: (all hand calculated) Avg. 16.4, High 18.9, Low 13.9 Always use 89 octane. (3:55 rear end)
Goodyear tires replaced at 50k with Michelin LTX much nicer ride.
Use Mobil 1 5-20 with Mopar filter, change every 5k miles
I replaced the plugs at 30k and 60 miles, took me about 90 minutes.
60k had trans fluid/filter changed along with front diff fluid.

Mods: Mud Flaps, Chrome Step Bars, Bed Rug, Century Cap.

Problems:

1. I have the tin can rattle that many have talked about at 1500-1700 rpm in overdrive, and it gets worse if I am going up a slight incline. I know there is a fix but unless something happens will live with it
2. At 40 mph if in overdrive and punch it, it will shutter before down shifting. It goes into third, then two prime. I guess they are working on some type of software fix this. Not sure what the status of this fix is.

I use my truck for work everyday and really enjoy driving it.

In the end would I buy another, yes.

Ther is an updated flash for the "punch it/shudder" issue, but you wont like the reflash after they put it in your truck. You will have a gutless pig if you do install the updated flash. It changes the shift points, as well as pulls timing away from the engine. (pulls timing because of the WOT knock issue) If you dont do the updated flash, the only way to keep it from shuddering, is to pull the shift selector (+/-) down into 5th. This will take it out of full lock up in the torque convertor and also pulls the MDS system out of 4cyl mode. Then she`ll git with it when you stomp it. Keep in mind, if your foot is in the radiator, you`ll actually loose a bit of WOT. Pull your foot back off the pedal a little bit, you`ll feel more power. When floor`d, torque management wins the battle against your heavy foot being slammed thru the radiator. Anyhow, when you think about how much is going on with the electronics within these vehicles today, it take a lot of time for the systems to react, therfore, things within the system get upset when slammed to do something different all of a sudden. Think about how YOU would react if you were suddenly woke up from a sound sleep real violently, you would be confused and disoriented just like your truck is when it gets woke up all of a sudden. Technology`s great ain`t it...?!?!?!?! (lol)
