Default Extra Load??

Hi, I'm thinking about driving Cross Country and putting my bike in the bed for an extra 650LBS I have a 2010 1500 Sport - how bad will this effect the gas mileage? or should I just get a rental and have both the bike and truck shipped out? putting 3K miles and strain on the truck is it worth it??
Thanks need to know ASAP in order to make up my mind HELP

I'm not moving cross country.. But I'm moving to FL, 1600miles from where I'm at. I'm packing majority of my tools and some of my personal goods I do not want the moving company moving.. Probably about the same weight your moving +/- a few... I wouldn't be to worried about the strain on the truck. Your mpgs will suffer a little bit, but not to much.

I'm taking my time to FL... Setting cruise control at 55-60 and I'll probably see 17-18 mpg's. I'm also running a 2" front leveling kit with a 1" rear spacer and airlift 1000's set at 10psi.

650lbs is nothing for these trucks today. If you havent done so already, only things i would suggest to do just before you leave, change the oil and filter, check the tire pressure. Sure wouldnt hurt to toss in a new air filter for the trip. Check your lights. If you have a hemi, you`ll see 17/18 mpg like mikey says. When you arrive at your destination, i would change the motor oil again.

Agreed with Larry... Change the oil before your trip and air filter... Also depending on your miles... Change your differential fluid before hand. I just changed mine last weekend to valvoline syn-power in my diffs.

Also what gears are in your truck? That'll play a difference in your mpg...
