Oh I agree hounddogg but I was only towing a 4500lb boat MAYBE on an average of once a month. 8-10 mpg towing(diesel)compared to 10-12 gas towing and NEVER over 15 empty compared to 18+ gas at 70 cents a gallon =cheaper is a huge difference. When I bought !/ I thought I'd be towing the boat a lot more and 2/ I thoughtnthe diesel would get as good or better mileage than the gasser. Diesels used to be better, not today!!!as long as your 03 runs good, stick with it . The newer ones are terrible on fuel endless you drive 55-60 empty. Me? I can't stand it.

 

I don't think I've ever gotten over 16mpg not towing and staying under 2000rpm. Thats like 60 or so mph. But it tows better then any gasser out there. My wife is off with it,3 horse trailer with 10 foot LQ. I've been nervous about those batterys for like 5 years or so.LOL.

 

I do pull a 5500lb 5th wheel with my 1500. So I hear you and understand what your saying. It gets about the same MPG as my diesel does towing. Dog and I fixing to take off with that soon. This is my OLD 5th wheel. I have a newer somewhat larger one now.
