Default Fibermax

I am looking at getting a Bakfkip Fibermax bed cover for my '09 Ram 1500. Does anyone have one, just wondering what they thought of it?

I see that you may have moved on from the Fibermax but in case you're still interested in opinions on it, I just put one on and so far I like it a lot. Install was easy; looks good; works well...

After some rain, I checked underneath and saw some drips in one spot but when I checked the seal, it was still kind of rippled from being brand new and I'm hoping that once that stretch of rubber settles down (which I understand will happen over time), this won't happen. I don't expect this to be 100% waterPROOF so I wasn't too alarmed. (I just wish it hadn't happened in the first week of use! )

thanks for the replies, I ended up going with the Roll-X. I found some other owners and talked to them about it so I felt more comfortable after that. Then I talked to the salesman and he went over the differences, features, etc. and for what I wanted and am going to use it or the Roll-X was better for me.

So now that you have had the cover for a couple of months how do you like it? Been looking at this cover myself and like how it looks.

I do like it, I like the way it functions and the improved gas mileage (at least on the highway) and like the way it looks.

I did have some issues with the passenger side not closing as easy as the drivers side but after some adjustments and alinging the cover better I can live with how that side latches, I just have to push a touch harder than the drivers side but I can live with it.

Water: I have not really been able to test that, haven't seen much rain in the midwest but it was parked during a brief shower once and some water got into the corners in both the front and back of bed. From the water that did get in there it looks like if you keep everything between the first long ribs of the bed that nothing would get wet. Again, maybe mine hadn't "seated" itself yet but as long as it only gets water in the corners then I can live with it, its not waterproof but very little should get in. I have yet to take to the car wash but that's probably an unfair test.

Also, others (non-dodge) have said that when rolled up and latched that the roll hits the back glass when stopping or on rough roads. One day I rolled it up and on the way home tried to get it to hit the back glass but couldn't, even when I tried braking hard downhill. While it may of "touched" the glass it didn't bang into it like some had reported, if it did touch I didn't hear it. Some guys are going to put some wedges on to keep it from rolling forward during breaking.

If you are looking you should call Morrie at bakfactoryoutlet (hope I can post that), you'll get the best price or just talk to you about the different cover to see what fits your needs.

Any questions just let me know, I don't have any pictures yet but can take some if you want to see any.

I got the fibermax for my '12 and it's pretty ok. It looks good. I don't like the rubber seals as they don't work that well, it definitely leaks, although not enough to dissuade me from keeping stuff under there. I would definitely feel comfortable putting luggage and such and driving through a rain storm, it's really not that much water that gets in, and it all runs down the side of the bed and into the outermost channel where it either sits or flows downhill out the bed drains.

I have one build-quality issue where a screw on a joint is protruding which causes the rubber seal to bump up in that spot and look bad and let too much water in. There's a gray sticky tape that holds the rubber seal to the top of the cover and it's not stuck in that area either. I've got emails out to their warranty dept. and I expect that they'll provide instructions to fix it shortly.

The only thing I really don't like is the way it sits against the cab when opened all the way. It has some foam rubber bumpers but they don't seem that great. The sticks to prop it up also allow too much movement, the whole system is made up of too-flimsy plastic. I probably won't use this feature unless absolutely necessary.
