lol...or when you want to dye everything that oil touches purple.

Here goes another oil WAR thread...but put what you want in. On new equipment I change my oil/filter after 1500/2000 miles to get the shavings out and excess crap...on smaller equipment, jetski...four wheelers I go 20-25 hours then switch it.

Now the next person that replies will call me a dumb *** bc I don't know how oil breaks down and wears how it's a waste to switch oils..then the next poster will call the next guy a dumbass...thats how these oil threads work. good luck

I did my first oil change at 3K and my second at 8K.

I just use the synthetic that's on sale that week.

My first change I used mobil 1 and my second I used valvoline synpower.

I'm not a fan of RP, but whatever floats your boat.

I swapped my oil the first time early on, at about 2K. After that it was whenever the change oil light came on, which has been around every 3K after that. Each oil change it's been full synthetic (whatever name brand was on sale), and a Fram Extra Guard filter.

Fram Oil filters are absolute junk. Do a google search and you will see why. Full synthetics definitely lubricate the engine better and have a longer life than conventional oil. I don't use RP as it's so expensive, but a Mobil 1 full synthetic and unfortunately I have a Fram filter right now, as the store had nothing else when I got my oil changed. I hear Wix or NAPA gold makes a good filter. I change my oil every 6k miles.

Fram now has a up grade over the standard Fram filters. Don''t remember the name Fram Whatever's but I read a report about them a few months back. They cut one up and all that stuff. It was quality. As far as Royal Purple and such I'd let the OIL CHANGE NOW reminder tell you when to change on a new engine before using it. Let everything 'burnish' in so to say. Then use the oil you want as long as it meets or exceeds manufacture guidelines. I use Amsoil XL 5w20. Its equivalent to Mobil One. Not Mobil High Mileage but regular Mobil One.

Pennzoil synthetic, quiets my hemi, better than others. Change it when the computer tells you. It keeps better track of the type of driving I do, than I could.....

Hmmm, thanks for the tip, I might have to look into those FRAM filters. I know for sure I'm not using the standard FRAM, I'm not 100% which one. Anyway, I'll give a look and see what other brands are readily available.

I would stay away from FRAM regardless of what oil filter it is.
