Default 2yrs old, box rotted - WTF...!!!

2010 Hemi QC 4x4 Sport (i added every option available when i bought it)

One thing right after another... inside the box has rotted just ahead of the tailgate. Took to the stealership, and 3 days later, chrysler approved it for repair. I was told chrysler is NOW not questioning to many 4th gen trucks needing re-paint due to rust issues on the body`s. Soon as i pay this thing down a little more, its GOT TO GOOOO, i`ve had enough issues with this truck. I`ve had MANY other warranty issues that i have yet to get approval since it was brand new.

Not Fixed...!!!!
Headliner (stained from 3rd brk light leaking)
Leather Interior Ruined (due to leaking 3rd brk light)
Slag under the paint (EVERYWHERE...!!! Pizz poor paint job...!!!)
Door Jams (missing paint everywhere, can see thru to the metal)
Torque Convertor Noise (this one has the star case TQ issue)
Rear Differential (howel`s horrible, just waitn for it to blow anyday)

While they were looking it over for the rust issue in the box, salesman comes right out to me while i was wasting time looking at cars on the lot.... he was on me like a rat on a cheeto. (yeah go figure) Proceeds to tell me they really stepped it up on the new ram trucks... asked me if i would like to drive one... i just laughed right in his face. Then i told him i already made a big mistake buyin 2 of them already, i sure as hell dont need another headache. If chrysler would have stepped up and fixed everything on my truck, i`d likely buy another dodge, BUT, the s-h-i-d-d-y service i`ve gotten from chrysler is dammmm well gonna keep me from buying another one of their products ever again. I`ve bought TWO 2010 hemi trucks, both had issues, chrysler could have made them both right, but they wouldnt, sooooooo adios amigo`s...! Ford is coming out with an all aluminum cab, body, fenders, & box, guess i might have to look into one of them when they come out. I`m not crazy about fords, BUTTTTTTT, if it wont rust out on me before its 1/2 paid for, guess i`ll have to check them out and possibly give ford my money.

Anyway, for those of you that might see some paint bubbling up inside the box right in front of the tailgate where the 2 panels meet, mine got approved to be fixed, yours if rusted/paint bubbling, you`ll likely get yours approved to be fixed rather easily from what i was told.

Ok, end of rant....sorry

I understand. I think I am really lucky with my '09. Not many issues and all were fixed rather quickly by Dodge. However I did look at a Ford while I was at the dealer while they were working on my air stems. The thing is my truck is paid off in Jan of 2013. Trying hard to not have payments for a while.....Hope my truck keeps holding up...

Picture of the box?

Seems odd that there would be any rust, I haul Class 5 in mine and hardly even have any paint damage let along rust.

Wish i could put pics on here for you guys, my pooter wont let them upload.
I live where they salt the roads in the winter, so i expect it to rust later on, BUT within 2yrs of new, its just not acceptable.
I see all the 3rd gen trucks are rotten out just above the rear wheel wells, i figured dodge had fixed the issue with 4th gens.

We're pretty salty here too in the winter. So far all I've got is some front bumper spots - knock on wood.

Oldjeep,
I was under the truck today, i noticed (with the spare tire removed) it is all open up under the area where it rotted. Its like a little boxed area thats open facing forward. When i get the truck back wednesday, i`ll be spraying bed coating up in there so the salt and water cant get up in there anymore in between the two panels. Whats happening is the water (& salt) gets forced up into that area and gets pushed into the seams where the two metal panels are spot welded together on the back of the box. If that gets sealed up, nothing can get forced and trapped in there anymore and hopefully stop it from rusting the bed out from underneath.

If you walk up to the back of your truck, tailgate closed, lean over the back of the tailgate, look straight down at the box in the area where the bottom of the tailgate is, you`ll see the ribbed floor panel where it is spot welded to the bed. Right where the panels are spot welded, thats where mine rusted & rotted.

I really want to keep this truck but i`m afraid it isnt going to last as long as i had hoped it would. I ordered this truck with it having every option that was available when i bought it... i figured i was going to keep it a long time, but if its rusting this fast already, its time to re-evaluate the situation. This truck has NEVER had anything in the box, i dont haul with it either. Ther`s no reason for this truck to have rusted already. This truck is a driveway queen, it gets cleaned and waxed more than most vehicles do. I never allow it to get dirty. Hell, it looks far better than most brand new vehicles do when they leave the dealerships.

Just simply frustrating my friend

Got the truck back from the dealership this morning... i could have done a far better job repainting it in my driveway during a rainstorm. The brand new paint is already bubbled up, popped one of the paint bubbles and water come pouring out of it. Come to find out, they took my truck to an independant paintshop to get the warranty paintwork done.

Hey chrysler, ever wonder why you dont have many repeat customers...?!?!?!?
Once this truck is gone, my wife an i will NEVER buy another one of your products...!!!

Rust on a 2 or 3 year old vehicle really isn't acceptable, regardless of where you live. I live north of Toronto, so long winters and plenty of road salt. I also drive a lot. So far, no rust on my 2009 Ram with 103,000 km on it. I am a big believer though in the Krown annual mineral oil spray process. My truck has had it done twice, and I'll be getting it done again shortly. Reasonable cost, about $120, and it's much better than conventional rustproofing.

A number of years ago I developed rust on the trunklid and front passenger door on my BMW 740. I had a local bodyshop do the work, and the owner told me I should get the annual oil spray done. He didn't provide the service, but said he gets it done on all his own vehicles...including a 16 year-old GMC pick up. My buddy has a 2003 Ram with 280,000 km on it...no rust. Gets it oil sprayed every year.

Paint bubbling by an outsourced Painter IS NOT CHRYSLERS FAULT! Rookie painters is who's to blame. The Dealership is to blame, not Chrysler.
Paint bubbling is from the basecoat layer not being fully dry when clearcoated.
3rd Brake light is notorious for leaking on the 3rd Gens as well. It's a lousy foam gasket and I RTV'd it up before it had the chance to leak.
I spray underneath my truck EVERY snow storm to wash away the salt.

Sounds like you have a lot of little problems and nothing too major just yet. Breaking down constantly, having electrical issue's or transmission isue's is what I would callmajor. It can get frustrating, but every post I see of yours is bash, bash, bash. I've had a few issue's and my truck only has 10kmi. I fully expected to have problems when I bought my truck. No vehicle is perfect, especially a truck that is the least expensive of Ford/Chevy/Toyota..etc for what you get. There's always a reason for that.
It's good to let members know of your issue's so they can maybe prevent it from happening to them, but geez man, just sell your truck and be done with it already. I would if I was as fed up with it as you are.

Exactly, the dealers ARE the problem, BUT, chrysler lets them get away with it...thats BAD business in my opinion.

I would sell the truck in a heartbeat, if i could, BUT, the truck is worthless with all the issues it has. Nobody wants it... dealer wont give me **** for trade value because they know they`ll have to fix it before it can be sold, otherwise it would be already GONE...!. So i`m stuck with paying for a $45,000 dollar mistake on my part. All i want is for chrysler to make it right and fix it, i wouldnt have a problem with that and i sure as heck wouldnt be bashing them if they would be stepping up to fix THEIR warranty issues with it.

"Bash Bash Bash"
Look dude, i`ve helped alot of others equally on this forum whether it was good or bad, so if it bothers you, then dont read what i write. I`m just letting others know that I`M not the only guy on here thats pizzed off about sh!ty service and products. We dont live in a perfect world, if we did, nobody would/could complain. But when you pay this much for a vehicle and have nothing but problems and the dealerships dont help you when it IS a warranty PROBLEM, i have every right to bash them and all involved if i want to. You would do the same if it were you. All i want is a decent truck for the price i paid. Chrysler is NOT standing behind their warranty`s. Thats something people have a right to know about. Great truck, you just cant get it fixed before it becomes a pile of junk. Thats not a product i would be happy to own, neither would you.

Oh yeah, and after going back to the dealer 5 fuggin times for them to do something about the 3rd brk light leaking, i FINALLY had to fix it my self. I got tired of excuse`s that they were waiting for chrysler to approve it to be fixed. In the meen time, the headliner is ruined with stains, the leather interior where the water had poured onto it, also ruined. And i dont have a reason to bash or be upset...???? Whatever dude, i`m glad you`re happy with your truck.
