Food for thought:
Hey all,
Not normally my section, but I figured I'd share. My dad dropped his 2012 Ram 2500 Diesel off of a ledge today, wanted to show you guys how these $600+ drive-shafts hold up:
Ground Zero

Drivers rear quarter:

Drive-shaft:

That pic was after he supposedly "straightened" in out with his bottle jack. Pics can't show it, but it is literally ripped.
My solution I'm fabbing up for my 3rd gen:

Let's clarify here LU229, this is my Dad's truck. That my Dad was driving, not me.
Gas take and frame are fine, it was just the quarter, muffler and shaft :/
He's only 65, and normally is a great driver. It is unfortunate though, where this happened the owner stated it has happened to many other vehicles

Reason #3,075 I told him to do a lift on it, or at least drop the cookie cutters and put on 35/37's

I created a post, but it didn't go through...hmmm You don't have 2 threads up do you?
Here in NY, that would fail a safety inspection. Technically the landowner is liable for those accidents because there is no gaurd rail or warning for the drop off whether they were aware or not. Landowner could get sued eitherway and reaaaaally hammered if it's happened before and has done nothing about it.

Looks like an excellent way to break chunks off the diff housing instead of the driveshaft. Might want to consider a design more like this one:
http://www.getdirtyoffroad.com/slider.htm
It uses the tubes and the snout of the diff to support the skid rather than trying to canteliever off some welds that will never hold on the housing.
