Default Motor/ exhaust sound

For the v8's that shut off 4 of the cylinders, does anyone know what the exhaust sounds like after the cylinders turn off?

The exhaust 'frequency" drops to half of what it is when all 8 cylinders are operational. Some notice it more than others. My wife never notices it when we are driving, but I do.
Probably more noticable with an aftermarket muffler.

They don't get all ricey sounding. The size of the exhaust and bore size of the cylinders prevents that. Plus the muffler you choose prevents that as well.

It gets fluttery sounding. It used to pop my ears when the windows would be up and it kicked in. It was weird. I disabled MDS first chance I could with a tuner.

You get use to it. I have a loud exhaust. I hear MDS cutting in and out. No big deal. Whenn its in MDS I just think of all the fuel its not using. No way would I turn it off. The longer its in 4 cyl mode the more the fuel mileage clicks up. Bet mines in 4cyl mode 80% of the time at minimum. I don't live in high traffic areas but I'm showing 18.5 mpg UP almost constantly. It won't do that with MDS turned off.

When in MDS 4cyl mode, they ALL sound like rice, just depends on who you ask.
I`ve always shut my MDS off in the city, turn it back on only on the highway.
The louder the exhaust, the more it sounds like rice pudding puking from a POS honda.

Another way to keep the MDS mode off, just put 10w30 motor oil in the engine.
But, doing this, (no MDS, heavier oil) WILL drastically effect your MPG`s, your choice.

I've read numerous post where 10w30 dosen't cancel MDS. It just makes not as responsive. If you don't want MDS then buy a performance download and void your warranty or buy a Ford. The RAM has turned into a high selling very popular truck. Obviously only a few with loud exhaust is bothered by the sound. I'm not one that it bothers.
