No it doesn't.

I haven't seen any reason for you to get a diesel; they just aren't what they used to be. You'd be better served getting a Hemi IMO

One of the main reasons I want to move up to the 2500 is to get the beefier parts and get way from the ifs. The boat and mainly the catering trailer which gets pulled on the beach, I could not even get above 45mph on the highway with out almost flooring it. The boat was not as hard but still gave me the feeling in the back of my head that my truck is not intended to do this. I suppose the hemi is more powerful tho even though its pushing a heavier truck

How much does this trailer weigh and how big is the boat?

Screw a newer diesel, you could probably find a good deal on a used 5.9L Cummins, it'll do everything you need and more...

In a 1500 it gets closer to 20 But again - how much weight are you actually towing?

Don't expect much more then that on a new diesel. With the emmisions junk on them, they are a junk motor. I am not talking the new cummins with the DEF fluid either. When I bought my truck I thought I was getting the best of the best, the "legendary" cummins. I was so unhappy with that thing I almost got rid of it the first week. I was only getting 12 MPG pulling, not even 10k lbs at that time. Not to mention the truck was soo bogged down, some days I felt the hemi had more power. Good luck during a burnoff too, had that happening almost every week because of the idleing here in the cold. That turns that 12 down to like a 4. Instead of selling the truck, I decided to do the filter deletes and tuner, it woke the truck up and I picked up 5 MPG right as soon as I did it.

The only issue that your going to find is getting parts is getting harder and harder to find, even here in Alberta where we don't really care for emmision laws. There is actually a guy here in the southern part of the province that is considering building his own tuner, just for sales here in alberta because of the high demand. I don't know if you keep up in the diesel world or not, but all production on filter delete parts are not in production anymore. They are still making tuners, but they will be coming without a filter disable function. Without that your truck is gonna go into limp mode.

IMHO you will be just fine with a hemi. By the sounds of it, for the amount you pull and how much you pull, you really should not have much of an issue with a 1500 either. Either that or do as others say get a 5.9 if you want a diesel so bad. Or try and get yourself on a used 4th gen with a filter delete. You can try and go new, but until you find filter delete parts, I wouldn't buy it.

Went to the dealer today. The two options were a 2013 2500 cc 8ft with a hemi for 38k. The other was a 2012 cc 8ft ctd for 37k. Said the ctd could prob go for less because they are trying to get rid of it. Did like th 13 interior a little better tho. Still am not sure
