I'm going through 2 dealerships at one time now lol... original dealership is giving me 5,700 trade on the caliber. 2nd dealership is doing 6,000 unseen.. both dealerships can go no lower than 22,800. So basically now it comes down to who can offer the best interest rate..

I;ll keep ya all updated... pretty soon they just might give me the truck for free so I leave lol. getting a little sick of my wheeling and dealing but this is kinda fun lol. its so crappy outside so what better to do than work the dealers lol.

My father did pretty well a couple months ago purchasing a new '12 Express Quad Cab from a dealership in Brookfield, WI. I believe the sum was around $11k off MSRP, plus .9% financing through the dealership, along with a military incentive.

At the time (Late February) there was a dozen or better '12 Express models, half or better Quad or Crew cabs available.

Good luck with your purchase!

See what what CarMax will offer for your Caliber first. Use thst for leverage on the trade-in value.

Walk away, $8k off MSRP is a deal you can get anyday, especially on a 2012 model. As you see, Power Sedan's dad got $11k in February. If I was doing the deal, I would walk away and tell the salesman, thanks, but no thanks. I guarantee you that if the truck sits on the lot another month, they will meet your price. That truck is rotting on the lot and the dealer knows it but they also know you're eager to buy. I got $10k off when I bought my truck end of year 2009. Right now, here is Southern California, all of the dealers are offering at least $8k on 2013

Just pointing something out....unless Dodge changed something, that truck you're looking at is NOT an Express if it doesn't have the Hemi.

But I may be wrong.

Nothing I hate worse than sitting in a sales dept getting grinded from all directions. One thing I would point out though. You're becoming a truck person and you may want a quad cab for some growing room. I couldn't live without my Ext Cab. You will want the room later down the road. It may mean starting over your search or even going back another year. If the price isn't right, just walk. There are plenty of trucks out there. Maybe even take a drive down South and look. Things don't rust down here...it's wonderful!

Thanks guys for all the help! closed the deal!

MSRP on truck was 30,535. employee discount is pretty useless on a 2012 model.. 2013 model different story. 2012's are hard to find right now.. trust me, I've looked my **** off from wi to indiana all of April.. They're few and far between and are either out of my price range at the moment or they are pretty much the 30,535 MSRP's like mine.

Final numbers.

they came down to $22,000.. so about 8,500 off MSRP of 30,545 which I think is fair for both. Where they "blew" me away was with my trade-in. They gave me 6,000 for my very very basic 2007 dodge caliber and kelly blue book was 5,400.. I think their trade-in offer was at least a grand more than I expected so in reality I got the truck for closer to 21,000.

I would have had a hard time selling it for 6k private and then I'd have had to deal with all the Craig's list BS and tire kickers.. Plus my work schedule barely leaves me enough time to get 6 hrs sleep. I work from 6am-8pm 5 days a week and 6 hrs on saturday so I get one day to myself.. last thing I want to do on that day is show my car lol.

It does have the Hemi 5.7 or I would never even be looking at or bought the Truck. Will I get sick of not having a backseat? for sure but, for now it's only me and my Chocolate Lab, Trigger so we'll be fine for a coupe yrs until I save some money up and trade it on something more practical and take better use of my Fathers employees pricing.

They topped the tank off and also threw in free oil changes every 5,000 miles or 3 years with full synthetic oil.

On a scale of 1-10 just in my 20 mile drive in to work tonight I lovee the Truck off the scale.

On a scale of 1-10 on how I feel about the deal I got, I would rate it close to a 9 all things considered in the position where I'm at now.

Thanks again to all that helped me out through this it was truly a big big help.. when I get home I'll post some pictures of the truck if its still light out or else I'll do it first thing in the AM after I wash it lol... damn rained tonight
