Default Rims/tires for 2010

I bought a 2010 ram 1500 with stock 17 rims but I want to get bigger rim, I want to do 22' but before buying them, I would like to know what tire sizes would fit with that size without any problems, or should I do 20s and what tire sizes? A friend said that getting bigger rims would mess up the suspension on ram trucks, how true is that?

Valez,

The equipment on the vehicle from factory is tested to comply with and exceed the federal safety requirements. For this reason any after market modifications is not supported by Chrysler. I would not be able to advise if altering the size of the tires or rims will affect the vehicle, however it will put stress on the ball joints, tie rods, brakes, ABS ect. And keep in mind, if you do decide to change the tire size it is recommended to have the vehicle calibrated.

Valdez19,

I am unable to confirm that it is ok, as swapping to the factory 20's is still altering the build of the vehicle when it came off the line. You would still have to have the speedometer calibrated and I do have to advise that the spare tire that the vehicle was equipped with from factory is designed to work with the 17's. Therefore, if you do choose to upgrade I would recommend purchasing another spare tire compatible for the 20's.

The R/Ts come with 22s. So couldn't he at least go up to those and match the tire size they use?
