Question tpms problem

My 09 1500 has three of the four wheels with a split in the outer sleeve ( goes on from the outside and pulls the tpms up tight against the rim. Only $4 to replace the split part on each wheel but why did they go bad]? Over tightening at the factory? moisture damage ( corrosion?).. Any one else out there with this problem??

No explanation but VERY poor quality today.
And if you have the 20 inch sport or laramie wheels, they`re made in china...enjoy

Yes, I've had that problem with a couple of them. In both cases the split was caused by the valve stem corroding which is what split the nut. Both the stem and nut had to be replaced.

My 09 did the same my dealer replaced the stems with rubber valves , I don't think you can get metal ones anymore, get rid of the metal ones.

O J it shouldn't matter what size wheel you have a valve stem will fit any size my wheels are 20s and they just put rubber on them, no problems since.

Default problem solved

Dealership ( Duluth Dodge ) where I bought the truck - replaced all the defective tmps at no charge. Good will gesture even though the warrantee is up.

( going to buy my next vehicle again from them ) :-)

That is pretty cool. I just noticed that another one split down the side, that makes 3 of them now. (82K miles)
