Maintenance definition of "Frequent Towing"
I tow a 3500 lb max camping trailer 2-3 maybe 4 times a year. I don't think that qualifies as frequent towing in regards to the maintenance schedule for axle fluid changes and transmission fluid changes. What do you guys think? I had 7 quarts of transmission fluid changed at 24k miles (no filter) the dealer had to fix a pan leak so they dropped the pan and replaced 7 quarts. At 40k miles, I took a 2,500 mile towing trip and before the trip I had the dealer do a fluid replacement service with a machine, again no filter. Haven't done much towing since. Today, at 70k miles, I had the trans filter and 7 quarts replaced. The guy at the trans shop said the fluid was still new and the filter also looked like new. I feel like I'm over doing it? same goes for the rear axle, changed at 18k, at 36K, didn't tow much after that and I checked it at around 60k but had it replaced today. Again the fluid looked like new. I'm just being paranoid about the dealers using any excuse to deny warranty at the 5 year inspection.
