Is the 8 speed tranny worth the upgrade?

just picked up my 14 tonight w/ the 8 speed. Came from a 10,12,13 hemi crew cabs and they were all dogs. from a dead stop they wouldn't spin the tires unless the road was slick or you were turning. This truck will light them up from a roll even with posi rear end..... definitely worth getting, truck actually feels like it has 400hp now!!!

How does the "GEAR+ GEAR-" button work on the steering wheel on the 8-speed auto?

So it works somewhat like a paddle shifter?

I can't see any difference in fuel mileage. A friend has a new 2014 truck exactly like mine except for transmissions. I can get 20 MPG at 70 MPH on the open highway with my 2013 six speed. She gets about the same fuel mileage with her 8 speed. I think it has more to do with driving habit.

You can get a posi rear-end with a 6 speed. What does this have to do with the difference between a 6 and 8 speed transmission?

Sorry about that. I guess I got carried away on the keyboard. That would be something to get 70 MPG huh?

For the first few thousand miles the trans would kick really hard if I got the RPMs up, let off and got back on it. Now it's like butter no matter what I do. I'm glad I got the 8 speed.
