Thingamadoohickey on frame

Ok, I would have searched for this, but honestly, I don't know what to even call it

I put my 'New to me' '09 Big Horn on the hoist, and found these 'things' mounted to the frame.

Haven't noticed them on our '09 D2500 HD.

So, anyone have any insight as to what these are, and what they do?

IIRC they are vibration dampers.

Kind of what I thought, but seems weird.

If that's the case, they are not communicating with the 'U-connect'

I wonder if they will interface using Blue Tooth on an aftermarket radio??

My neighbour is a mopar mechanic, dropped a few off for me that came off a 4th gen cummins and thats what he said they were. The ones he gave me were chipped and cracked and were causing vibration issues on the truck. I think they act like counter weights.

That's exactly what that is. It's a vibration dampener. There should be another on the opposite side. They are used on buildings and bridges, too.

Hmm, I need about 470 of these, to hang on my Jeep!

Anti-vibe counterweights, that ought to keep my TJ smooth and on all fours on the trail!

Thanks for the info. I kind of guessed that's what they did, as they can't do a heck of a lot else.

They're supposed to vibrate....and leak water.

My TJ only leaks when one of the tops are on.

Surprisingly, the bikini top keeps out the rain better than the hard top does!

Okay, maybe not to surprising.

Default Dampener

It's called a sub frame vibration dampener, used to minimalize any vibrations, they must of had vibration issues in this model,
