Hey guys,

So post winter 2014-2015 I have been finally able to get my Ram cleaned up (it was a rough one here in NY) I found this morning, a small rust spot on the bumper, looks like a rock must have gave a little ding and then the rust set in. In your guys' experiences, what is the best way to remove the rust that is on there, and seal up the little chip so that it wont rust immediately again.

 

Mine gets little surface rust dots all over the place. So far it has been what I'd call rail dust since it doesn't actually seem to be the bumper rusting. Non abrasive scrubby sponge and some chrome polish has worked so far.

 

Rail dust and true rust formation are completely different animals. Rail dust is from brake dust and metallic road debris that rusts as it sits on the surface, it forms tiny orange spots all over the place, not just in 1 spot...this can be very easily removed as mentioned above. If a rock has dented your chrome and altered the surface to the point where rust is forming, I'm not entirely sure how to fix this aside from grinding out the rust...but then your chrome bumper will have 1 spot where it's not chrome anymore.

Post up a picture of the issue, it may not be as severe as you think. Believe me I feel you, I live in Upstate NY and my white truck looks like someone threw a bag of Cheetos at the side of it.
