Default powertrain lifetime warranty

I just bought my first dodge, a 2009 Ram Laramie, it has 111000 miles, and I have seen this lifetime powertrain warranty floating around the website, and I was wondering do I have this on my truck, or is it something that you need to purchase, and if so, is it too late to purchase. The person I bought the truck from had no knowledge of this (second owner).

Probably applies to the original owner only. If it came with a warranty manual it should state that in there. If not I think you can download one off the Ram website.

Hi polago,

I just wanted to confirm what the previous posters have said. The Lifetime Powertrain Limited Warranty only applied to the original owners of the vehicles, and could not be transferred. You may be able to look into certified pre-owned service contracts, but based on the mileage of your vehicle, I don't know if there would be any available to you. You can check http://www.moparvehicleprotection.com/ if that's something you're interested in.
