Default 2015 Ram , Change Motor Oil every 2500 Miles?

So i got my 2015 Ram 1500 5.7L Hemi (gas) with 7500 miles and they did a oil change at that time, not i have exact 10000 miles and the "change oil soon" light came on! Is this normal at only 2500 miles? from the last oil change?
The dealer put 5w-20 Mopar oil in it last time.

Thanks for any clarification!

They obviously didn't reset the change oil gauge. Refer to your owners manual on how to reset it. I change mine every 7500 and I use 5w20 synthetic in my truck.

Hello and thanks for replying!

This info is really confusing...

I have access to alldatapro and it say:

""""
Maintenance Schedules

This vehicle is equipped with an automatic oil change indicator system. The oil change indicator system reminds the driver that it is time to take the vehicle in for scheduled maintenance.

Based on engine operation conditions, the oil change indicator message will illuminate. This means that service is required for the vehicle. Operating conditions such as frequent short-trips, trailer tow, extremely hot or cold ambient temperatures, and E85 fuel usage will influence when the "Oil Change Required" message is displayed. Severe Operating Conditions can cause the change oil message to illuminate as early as 3,500 miles (5,600 km) since last reset. Have the vehicle serviced as soon as possible, within the next 500 miles (805 km).

NOTE:
1500 Models Only

Under no circumstances should oil change intervals exceed 10,000 miles (16,000 km) or twelve months, whichever comes first.
"""

In the Dodge manual it exactly the same words.

So on the invoice they did replace with
7 qts, of 68055890AA 5W20 Bulk Mopar Oil
But i guess is just regular oil and not synthetic.

Yep, it's all based on some algorithm to determine when the light comes on. What that means is it can come on as early as 3500 miles, depending on driving conditions. But don't ever exceed 10,000 miles or 12 months. Pretty much all Dodge/Ram vehicles are this way. my Journey manual says the exact same thing. My light usually comes on between 7000-8000 miles. I used to be **** about changing every 5000 miles/6 months, but I decided that I was just wasting my own money, so, now I just wait for the light.

I agree with the above, if the light was not on when you took it in for an oil change, they did not reset it.

Hmm, My driving per day is about 30 miles , for 4 days and all terrain is straight and no hills, so the drive is really easy on the truck.

So i called the dealer and yes, the light comes early at around 2500 miles and up as oil is do at 3000 miles.
As for the oil they use regular 5w-20 barrel oil, or an upgrade to synthetic oil if a costumer wants too.

If i go to their express quick lube lane:
> Regular oil+filter $49
> Synthetic oil+filter $74

To buy and change the oil my self, they don't carry the regular oil at their parts dept.,as they use only barrel oil, but they do have the qt's on the synthetic 1 qt=$8.85, filter=$10,total of $77.
So i guess if i want synthetic is no point for me to do it,when they can do the work for same money,on their time.

Now what ever they use, is that a full synthetic or blend?

BTW, the dealer will tell you anything to make money. They are telling you it's due every 3000 miles? LOL....Those days are loooog gone. But, do whatever makes you happy.

So i guess the dealer use Pennzoil full synthetic, i guess.

And i found at walmart:
Castrol GTX MAGNATEC 5W-20 Full Synthetic Motor Oil for $5 / qt
Or Valvoline Full Synthetic for $6 / qt

At Kragen/O'Reilly found:
O'Reilly Oil - Synthetic Motor Oil $5.50/qt

Napa has their brand full synthetic 5w-20 for $2.99/qt in sale.

I may just go to full synthetic.

Thanks

Synthetic blend is a marketing gimmick. You never truly know the percentage, They could have 5% synthetic and 95% conventional. But it's still a "blend". Stay with full synthetic.
