Default Looking for advise

I have a 2017 1500 5.7 V8 3.21 gear ratio. I'm looking at purchasing a camper that's dry weight is 5800 pounds. Is this too much weight or will the truck do fine? Thanks for the input.

Your owners manual will contain towing information for your particular vehicle.

I don't know specifically but there are many things I learned when I was thinking about towing with my Dakota. A dry weight of 5800 pounds can easily gain another 1000 pounds or more before you get rolling between all your stuff and a tank full of water. The 3.21 might give a problem because it is a longer gear and less load friendly than a numerically higher rear. You may get more information at RV.NET, although they have their own opinions that can help confuse!

But I will also agree that your owners manual should have guidance. Just don't forget that the trailer numbers are only a start! The "stuff" numbers are much more important. And remember that you and the family also adds to load numbers larger than you might imagine. And if you plan on bring a dog there's another added weight.
