Default 3.0 to 5.0 uconnect upgrade

I have a Ram 1500 with a uconnect 3.0 head unit. It already has Bluetooth hands free from the factory with hands free and cruise controls on the steering wheel. I was just gifted a uconnect 5.0 head unit from a 2017 Ram my neighbor replaced. Is this a plug and play replacement, or are there other details I need to know...?

There are details we need to know, like...what year is yours?

Ah yes. Missed that. Mine is a 2016. It’s a bit odd as its a tradesman with a uconnect 3.0, but has Bluetooth and hands free that is factory installed and working on the 3.0 system. I am not sure that the 5.0 system will given me much accept the bigger 5” touchscreen and maybe the option to add a backup camera latter...

It is plug and play. I did this upgrade before installing aftermarket head unit, speakers, etc.

it was worth the money I spent and you are ahead of the game with Bluetooth.

YouTube the install. It's super easy and will only take you 15 minutes.
