test drive 09 1500
Today my daughter and drove the 09 1500.. We went to belmont race track in N.Y. and dodge had 3 different corses set up (fastes you could go was about35-40). Handeled corners pretty good, took bumps nice, and off road handling for me ok (I drive 2 wheel drive not 4) but gave idea about sand and water handling at 15 mph. Interior is much nicer than the pictures. some really cool options, heated and vented seats (fan blows air through the seats). Ram boxes look and are large enough to hold tools, clubs, and all that stuff you have in your wifes car trunk. New nav. system has touch screen and a great interface, not like the old peace of junk. Gear shifter is on the floor on the bucket seat and collum on the bench seat. I liked it and my daughter did not, so i guess its a matter of taste. heated stearing wheel (so). Over all compared to the 2nd and 3rd gen. i have owned i think 4th is a good step foward. but its not out yet and these were pre production modes for custer input and demo purpoes. I hope what they produse is as nice or nicer than these trucks
I've been excited about the 09's since I first read about em and saw the spy shots. I have been intouch with the dealer I bought the last 2 trucks from and he is sending me a brochure they received last week. On Dodge's website it states that the RamBox will be late availability. I asked the dealer about this and he stated that if it says late avail. it means it won't be available until 2-3 months after the first trucks hit the dealers. This really bums me out. I have a pre-approved loan with our bank that expires on Sept 11th but this option is one I have to have. I was so looking forward to having a new truck this year, but guess it will be sometime in Jan or Feb. now. I guess I don't understand why they can produce these for the shows but can't get them out with the first run to dealer lots. Anyway, still looking forward to when I get it. Jeff.
