Default 09 1500 or 09 2500

Hi All-

So I am looking at buying a Dodge 1500, or a 2500. I will get the 5.7 L Hemi with the crew cab if I get the 1500.

For the 2500maybe a Cummins, short bed extended cab.

So my question is which one...

I like the new features of the 1500, but dont know much about link coil suspension. I will be towing quads, and hauling wood, but nothing extremely heavy.

Also is there any difference in the TRX off road and the Sport... other than price tag? I will doing off road driving but I like the interior of the sport.

Thanks in advance for answering my questions and helping me pick the right truck.

You probably already know this but the 1500 is the only one with the new design. HD trucks are next year.

for the long haul, the 2500 is proven reliability and its a diesel! but for the short run, you'll have lots of attention in the '09 1500 since i only see maybe 2 a week. TRX4 comes with skidplates and towhooks which are essential in offroad driving. I thought trx4 is only on the 3rd gens.

Ask your dealer to try to find you a 08 2500, which are much cheaper

trx4 is a separate trim for 09.

if you want the nice interior of the sport and 4 wheel dirve you haft to go with the laramie I was in between until I figured Id most likely break it off roading so I stuck with my ATV's and a sport trim to haul them.

If you want an 2500 wait for the new model year or buy an 08 cheaper.

Get to know hat you really want your truck to do.

A 1500 Ram can haul what your say you need, but you will find verry fast the limitations of a 1500.

THe 09 is new, so thiers going to be teathing pains and I hate the coil spring rear suspension, all it is design for is a improved ride, but It's still rated for a 1/2 ton.

I love the hemi, I have one in my 06 2500 Ram, excellant work truck, lots of power and verry respectable high way mpg, but, once you step into a quad cab 2500 with the hemi, you will find its limitations as well.

My truck is a reg cab 6sp, I don't need the power or the payments of a CTD, but hands down a 2500 suspension is better.

A hemi quad cab 2500 is by no means lacking in albility and when compared to the new 6.7 CTD, thier = in mpg.

The only advantage of a CTD is you can tow a lot more than the average person will ever tow..

Diesels are loud and smell and can have hard staring in cold weather. The only way I would get one is if I was towing heavy equiptment on a regular basis, or plowing as a subcontractor. Otherwise i would say get the Hemi since you would be able to save the money from the diesel and get much more of a truck as far as quadcab and accessories.
