Default outside temp. display

I did a search and didn't see anything, may have missed it but mine is about 5 to 7 degrees off, We are having an ice strom here in Texas and all the news are saying temp is 30 to 32 degrees, I was out in it for about an hr. and a half, wipers were freezeing up,ice all over front of truck, mirrows had at least a 1/8 coating of ice, truck showed 39 degrees for around 20 min. then went to 38 down to 36 after over at least an hr. driving around, I thought it was a little off last week but when temps are in 60's a few degrees is hard to judge, if I hadn't seen the ice and slick roads and just went by the 36 to 38 reading I would have been driving speed limit instead of the 40 or slower the traffic was going, Can it be recalibrated or has anybody esle had this problem? Still LOVE the truck though!!!

PS didn't do a search on this forum, above was copied and pasted from the other one

I've heard of a few others having this problem also. From what I've read, the temperature sensor is located in the top of the tailgate...? Seems like an odd place to put a temp sensor, but it would isolate the instrument from engine heat, etc.

Have you talked to a dealer about the problem? Where are you in TX?

Edit: Looks like the OAT sensor is behind the grill and in front of the radiator.

Looks like some people are having the sensor replaced... Dodge seems to be aware of the issue.

Wife's 09 Crew Cab TRX was actually stuck between 114 and 116 degrees. That, combined with the check engine light coming on but giving no codes resulted in about 75% of the computer being replaced. Fixed the problem though!

Hers now reads about 6-7 degrees lower than mine, with hers being more accurate.

Maybe I should take mine in?

I had mine fixed, but it is not the sensor itself. Mine was the TIPM module. Symptoms: 20 degrees too high and very slow to update. I would definately talk to a Dodge dealer. I've heard that Dodge is sending extra TIPM modules to dealerships for this problem.
