What if I buy out of state
How does it work? Do they take trades? What about shipping? Who has themthe cheapest? Lets Say I live in new Jersey and buy from SOuth Carolina do I pay taxes in both states? thanks guys
You pay sales tax in the state that you buy it. You can either get it tagged in the buying state or your state, so will have to pay registration fees, and might have to pay taxes on it the next year. Contact your county tax collector office, they should be able to answer your questions regarding this.
I live in Florida, bought my Ram in SC. I was near there working.
I paid no SC taxes. Asked me where I lived and where the truck was going to be registered.
Took out 300.00 which is the max SC can take out for another state.
When I registed it in Florida I had to pay taxes and that 300.00 was deducted from the total.
Also traded in my old truck...got a pretty good price for it. It was registered in Alabama.
SC dealer mails all the info needed to register the truck to you house. SC dealer send an affidavit; SCADA; of the price to your state's DMV/tax accessor.
It was easy.
Tax in Florida killed me. $2500.00 here. That, I was not expecting, but I had never done this. New to Florida. My mistake for not checking that before buying. Just stupidity on my part.
First time I bought a vehicle in a state other then where it was going to be registered.
Find out what your state tax is going to add to the price. More than a good idea to find your local tax out exactly before purchase.
Now I know what it cost in Florida, wish I had called.
