Where are some good places to find these radar detectors? The only one i have seen that i REALLY liked was a friend had a mustang and it had a little light bar in the cabin on the dash then he had a sensor in the front grill and a sensor on the rear license plate. That thing was sweet but i have never been able to find one in stores.

I mounted my Escort X50 right above the left upper corner of the rear view mirror, tucked the wiring into the headliner, down inside A pillar trim, through the dash by the dash speaker to a unused connector above the brake pedal near the steering column. The upper male pin was switched and the inline fuse is readily available if need be. The remote annunciator and mute button is velcroed to the steering column in my line of sight for fast response.

I've got my eyes on the Beltronics RX75, planning on putting it in that vacant spot aft of the roof console. I keep getting told that all you need is a 12v source and if need be, running power isn't all that difficult.
RadarBusters.com is a really good website to visit if your looking for info.

What kind of detector do you have? Do you have an auto dimming rear view mirror?

Here's the cord for plugging into the mirror (works great been using for years)

Here's the mount for the detector

Detector is always on and ready to go when I jump in the truck!

That looks like a pretty good setup.

It really is! There use to be so many times I would not bother mounting it on the windshield or plugging in it. Now I'm always protected because it's there and on when I start the car.

I used this method today to install mine. I did not order the one on the web page I just did it myself. Works great. Looks great. Awesome Idea. I thought about using this power but thought(for some reason) that it wouldn't work. BTW: LOVE MY NEW TRUCK

The Ram has an Acre+ of Dash-top, but that puts all your devices right out on display for anyone to see. And for the Sun to bake, and for the unsightly cables... Tucked up under/beside/above the rearview mirror reduces all of these issues - but only if you can source power up there.

Hey, does the standard wiring harness have a branch for the sunroof option ?? Is it available in the headliner for non-sunroof models ??
I tapped into power and ground in the overhead console.
I have a sunroof but did not use that for power.
I tapped into power a harness that appears to be for an internal camera. It is a good 12 volt ignition source. It only powers up in the ignition position. Those with the overhead console and sunroof should see what I mean. The console has the opening for the cam. I don't know if that console is in all rams. As for the ground...Lots of choices in the overhead console.

I used power from the rear view mirror. I have the thick auto dimming mirror and tapped into a 12v wire from the wire connector that attaches/detaches from the back. It only comes on when the key is in the ON position. I screwed the radar detector mount into the bottom of the mirror for a nice clean finish.

I think it was the Pink wire I used for power, and the black wire I used for the ground. I'll have to check to make sure.

bremner could you post a pic of the radar mounted to the mirror? That's one thing i am worried about is the detector falling off the windshield and ripping the wires out.
