The new 09' rams run on sythetic oil. You change it every 5000-7000 miles. Your light will come on.

the owner's manual says 6000 mile changes. i am not going to change any sooner, but i will keep a record of all changes. with the lifetime warranty and a stock truck, i should be good if something ever happened.

The indicator is actually listed as a message on your dash. You will hear one chime when you start the truck telling you that you have a message. To reset, turn the ignition on, but do not start the engine. You then press the throttle to the floor three times.

The 09 does not come with synthetic oil. The computer determines the change time by duty cycles based on the number of starts, miles driven during the start cycle etc. Time between notifications will be much longer on highway use vs short city trips.

If you change every 5000 miles like I have for several years, you may never see the message. Just remember to reset it when you change your oil or don't and see when it actually comes on.
