Default Ventilated seats?

About to enter into the Ram 09' fraternity but have one question? Are the ventilated seats that efficient in cooling the driver and does the AC have to be on to utilize them? In the CTS Cadillac one has to first turn on the AC before the cooled seats technology works. Thanks for any input.

It cools you off pretty good and I'm almost positive you don't have to have the AC on for them to work.

The ventilated seats don't require the AC to be on, it just makes them alittle better. All they really do is circulate cabin air through the seat, so if the AC's on, then that cabin air will be cooler...but it's still much better than without them that's for sure.

Yes, it was only available with the captains chairs, which I believe only came in leather. I personally think it is the greatest feature on the truck. And if you have remote start and select the comfort convenience or whatever, then if it's hot enough outside then they will automatically come on. I haven't figured out the temp threshold yet but i think it's 80? Great idea for TX.

Also, at what temp do the heated seats turn on when using remote start? Anyone know? It was 33 a few days ago and they weren't on. Does it need to be 32?

you know sobo... i noticed to on certain days when i used the remote start that the seats would be cold when i get in there... i didnt know why as i dont think i ever manually turned the chill on.. but since you think it has to do with the outside temperature that could explain it...

but its usually on around 50 in the morning so why does it come on for me?

ohhh.. maybe cause my outside air temp gauge is still messed up (to be fixed Sat)... so the truck thinks its over 80... i get it...

thats a clever feature

It's something you set up using the EVIC. GM called those the DIC (that name was much more humorous). Anyways, it's a simple on or off. When "Comfort Convenience" (or something like that) is checked then it cools the seats above 80 or 85 and then it should heat them when it's cold, i just don't know at what temperature the heating starts b/c I guess it hasn't been cold enough here. It's based on the outside temp. I sure wish it was based on the inside temp b/c even if it's 60 outside but my black trucks been in the sun with dark gray leather seats - they can get pretty warm.

Also, why can't the temp be adjustable? Would it have been that hard to do? Seriously?

Ahh ok thank. Maybe its a good thing i dont have captains because it seems people are having issues with wear because of the preferated/holey leather.
