Default MOPAR: 09 Ram Crew Cab Side Step pics and review

I had some trouble with my new '09 Ram Sport that took the dealer two visits and three days to resolve. All seems to be fine now. As a result the dealer felt bad enough that he installed a set of MOPAR chrome side step bumpers on my truck (crew cab). He didn't have to do it but, I think under the circumstances he wanted to make things right and he did. I was really strapped after getting the truck and wasn't going to be able to afford them for a while. Not many dealers would have done that.

The part number is 82211496 and MSRP is $614.00. Personally, I think they look great. Being chrome they match the chrome accents (wheels/grill) on the truck and finish it off nicely. The step pads have the DODGE name and a honeycomb pattern that matches the step on the tailgate area. I like that because, I'm kinda picky about things "looking" like they belong together. The steps match up nicely with the door openings. You can get a good amount of foot on the pad without kicking the vehicle as long as your not trying to step into the cap at a 90 degree angle. I have a size 11 shoe and you can see most of the foot fits on the pad. In the one pic my foot is NOT touching the vehicle although it looks like it is. There is a small amount of give/flex when you step on them. This appears to be at the mount. While the bolts are tight the brackets seem to clip in and then bolt to the frame? Kinda hard to explain and it started to rain so, I couldn't get pics of the underside. I'll post them tomorrow. Regardless, they are VERY secure and you cannot feel any movement at all when you step on them. The visual movement is minimal.

Here are the pics!

Here is the pattern on the rear step bumber at the tailgate.

Those are really nice, however, I don't like steps/running boards. They seem to be in the way. I just get the back of my pants dirty.

It would be nice if you took the time to write the dealer a nice letter they could display.

Love your truck!

That's EXACTLY what I want. Those look incredibly sharp.

I'm not a fan of the ones that curve under the truck. I like the straight line oval look.

I'll still need to wait to find some aftermarket ones that are straight, but damn those look good.

Also, great dealer. As someone noted above, you really should write them a letter or something. They did you right, which in today's world, isn't to be expected.

Great looking steps...great dealer. Congrats.

If anyone knows the part number for these steps please post it. I searched online and found mopar chrome steps but they look a little different in the pics. The ones I can find online show 3 different black step pads. I'm looking for the same steps as Lraymond, with the 2 black step pads.

They are very sharp looking, I especially like that they match the rear bumper pads. You are correct that most dealers would not have thrown them in just because you were inconvenienced. Keep that dealer...
