Default ESP issues

Ok so the driveway is covered in snow right now and I want to spin the tires without the esp turning on and making that stupid noise. I push the esp button and it turns off "partially" as the manual says so it still kicks in. The manual says that the esp can be fully turned off if the button is held for 5 seconds, "esp off" should appear and a chime.
Well I've tried this and nothing happens, no "esp off" light and no chime. It just stayes in partial mode. Does anyone have a problem with this? What could I be doing wrong?

I've been messing around with it and esp only turns off if its in 4wd. This is such BS, it should be able to turn off in 2wd too.
Has anyone been able to turn esp off in 2wd. Pushing the button in 2wd will show the esp light indicating that its partially off but it won't turn completely off by holding it in. "ESP off" shows up in the EVIC when its off.

I went over the manual again and found that I missed the part that said esp can only be turned off in 4wd. I feel better now that nothings wrong with my truck but it still sucks that I can't have fun spinning tires.

i need to reread the owners manual...i thought the light in the dash meant it was off. i spun my tires and fishtailed in the snow, no noise of the traction control coming on when i had the light on in the dash.

It must be in park when you hold the button to fully disengage it. As for 4wd truck having to be in 4wd, I don't know about that.

It doesn't matter if its in park or not. ESP stays on in 2wd
