Navigation / Please tell me I'm wrong

I was playing with the navigation in my truck and it was not announcing street names.

I am shocked if this basic feature is missing from such a sophisticated system. I'm going to read through the book tonight but I did not see any settings that turned on.

there is really no need for some annoying voice to tell you what street you need to turn on, just look at the screen and read the name.

Your next action (turn) will be displayed on you vehicle info center between your gauges.

I couldn't disagree more! Taking my eyes off the road to look at my VIC or Nav screen to see it count down feet is ridicules!

Many times you will be approaching a turn and there are two streets next to each other and if the Nav prompt states the street name I don't have to take my eyes off the road and its easier to determine what street to turn on.

I have had navigation in my cars before the general public even new what it was. Alpine was the first manufacture to offer Navigation back in 1994 and it was a CD-ROM based system. This was before Garmin was a household name. Even the Alpine system offered text to speech.

Don't knock something before you have used it and lost it as a feature.

Navigation is an $800 upgrade over Uconnect Tunes and should have this feature.

i have had Nav in 3 previous cars/truck and i always muted the voice.

if you cant look at the screen for 3 sec and drive at the same time you might want to think about being able to have a drivers licence

Your posts are noncontributory and you should reconsider your helpfulness to the forum.

according to Dodge's website, the uconnect nav does do voice directions. I'm sure it's just a config issue, but if you can't find the appropriate setup, i'd check with the dealer.

That being said, i've never been a fan of integrated nav solutions. for the most part they are clunkier and less handy than any number of small portable solutions. Personally I ordered my laramie with pretty much everything but nav and sunroof, My little Garmins will continue to serve me well.

Same here. Everything but Nav and Sunroof.

1. Factory Nav is usually a pain to upgrade when the time comes and 99% of the time I know where I'm going anyways.

2. When I've had a sunroof I've spent most of the time with the shade closed anyways.

I agree with you guys and the two reasons I decided to get Nav this time around was because I could unlock it with the allgig and my experience with the AVIC Z1 was horrible.

I actually think the interface is pretty intuitive and I give it a thumbs up. Just cant believe its missing text to speech.

No sunroof for me either as I always pulled the shade shut.
