All you need to get is a limited slip or locker carrier for your rear end. You cant just change the rear gear, you would have to replace both the front and rear, or never engage your 4wd. I think you would probably spend about a grand on parts and install for a rear locker. Lots of money to be able to burn off two tires at once

No you wont need one in the front, unless you plan on rock climbing. I had a Jeep that I put lockers in both diffs and the locker in the front really affected the handling when I was in 4wd. I would get an air locker or an electronic locker instead of a limited slip. That way you can lock the diff on demand and it is just as it states, LOCKED. Its nice to have an open diff sometimes.

FYI

Your not turning esp off in 2wd, it can only be turned off in 4wd (if the truck is 4wd). Pushing that button in 2wd only partially turns off esp. Holding the button for 5 seconds in 4wd will turn it off.
Its not going to be easy to spin the tires even with a locking differential.

If you change the gears only, you need to do front and rear. Probably 500$ in parts for both. You said labor was free right?

A locker or limited slip is probably going to run 450$+ depending on what you want. If you just want to add a limited slip or locker to the rear you will not need to touch the front.
