I called. They stated "The only way to get close to 45% off is to qualify for the military and farm bureau rebates AND have the owner loyalty letter that was mailed out to people."

Well so much for that.

I couldn't believe it myself! Like I said I just bought my 2008 from them last November for 50% base MSRP, and then they go and mark off 45% on the 2009's. In a way I was kicking myself, but I am perfectly fine with my 2008!
I called them today to see whats up. Its 45% off the base MSRP and then all the additional upgrades are at full retail, no discounts there. So you where technically right. But you still can't get a 40k truck for 45% off

This is what I paid for mine. It was $15,295 off. It is a 2009 Ram 1500 SLT 4X2 Crew Sport.

1500 Crew SLT/Sport/TRX 4X2 (140 in WB 5.7 ft. Box) - DS1H98 $31,630
Customer Preferred Package 26L $3,445
5.7 V8 Hemi MDS VTT Engine $1,310
Leather Trim Bucket Seats $1,875
Class IV Receiver Hitch $335
Am?FM/CD/DVD/HDD/MP3 Radio $800
Destination $900

MSRP is $40295
Employee pricing is $34634
Rebates $2000
Hemi $1310
Lease to Purchase $750
Owner Loyalty $2500
Chrysler Finance $1000
Dealer Discount $2074

Your total EP price $ $25,000

Sales price $25,000.00 plus Tax Title and License.

$26,821 out the door. Plus 0% for 36 months. This was about what I paid for a fairly plain 1999 Quad Cab with a 5.2L and 4X2 if you include interest over five years.

Damn, owner loyalty and dealer discount. Didn't get either of those. Have to have a letter for owner loyalty though. Didn't get one.

It appears I paid too much - 1500 Crew 4X4 Larime, Ram Box, just about everything on it - MSRP 51,203, I paid 41,005. Just pick it up a few days ago, it is worth every penny.

Go to a dealer, get their price. Then go to another dealer and use the first price and see if the they will beat it. Get the deals in writing and pit the dealers against each other. They want to sell Rams now and will go low on the price if it means they are going to get a sale.

I definitely recommend the above plan. I start out by bringing in the best Dodge dealer ad in the paper.

Also, most dealers won't let you leave with their offer in writing - so I just took a picture of the offer with the camera on my phone. They didn't even notice - I just pretended to be reading an e-mail.

Good point. The cell phone thing is very sneaky.

I had the emails with the offers I was getting. I did most of my dealing from home.
