The guy at Best Buy was retarded because they already have the bypass module out for our trucks, i'm getting a 5901 next week on mine. The difference in an aftermarket alarm and the mopar alarm is HUGE! How much is your truck worth to you?
I checked into the 5901 for my 09 RAM and the needed parts are not out yet. There is a module available but they changed something in the ignition for the 09. I called Viper and checked with tech support and they confirmed they do not have the parts ready to do the 09 RAM.

I have a Viper 5900 I had pulled out of my 07 RAM, I'm going to sell that for the 5901 when they come out with the needed parts.

Anywhere else you really don't know what your getting. I guess buyer beware!! FYI-The alarm I was going to purchase was the 5701 and the sales rep told me that the next gen Viper alarms were coming in a few weeks. He described a new model with a LCD screen on the remote. Have you guys heard of about any new upcoming features?
Head to this link to find an authorized dealer near you. DEI is really strict on who can install their alarms, that's why they don't sell them directly. Part of their contract to sell their equipment is it must be installed by the shop as well. Their warranty depends on it. Those potheads and glue sniffers prob know everything there is about your vehicles electronics. I've never gone into an alarm shop employing well cut and clean individuals..
The new model he was talking about is the 5901, 1 mile range, etc etc. It's on Viper.com homepage

I was researching Viper's products on their web site and it turns out they have an alarm made so you can keep the key less entry remote controls that came with your vehicle and add anti-theft security protection. These systems retain the remote controls that came with the vehicle. It's called CANBUS OEM Security Upgrade Systems and features the Stinger DoubleGuard shock sensor, and the 6-Tone Siren. While I like the 5701 and 5901 responders, I really don't need the remote start features. I also would like to retain use of the OEM keyless entry features. I tried calling the tech line today four times and never got through. But I would be really surprised if they have one that works with the 09 Ram.

The first thing they typically teach you when you take the CHL class is that if you're going to shoot, then you should shoot to kill. If you hit him in the butt, you're going to need to follow up with another shot then. Also, if they're fleeing, it's common sense that you don't need to shoot them and if you do, especially if they're unarmed, you're going to end up in court.

On another note, I just have really good insurance with low deductibles and then I don't have to worry about fancy alarms or anything like that. Then again the biggest piece of crime to happen in our neighbor in the last 4 years is that some kids broke a bench trying to skateboard off of it.

i work for a dodge dealer up here. we install viper and the oe integrated remote start kits. as of right now, our guy has not been able to figure out how to get a viper to work in an 09. IIRC, i think its a problem getting the viper stuff to work w/ the WIN module. he's tried 2 or 3 differnet viper modules that say theyre supposed to work, w/ no luck yet. not saying anything bad about viper/dei, but w/ these trucks being so new on the market and all the different stuff compared to last gen, it might be a while. i really want one of the viper usb rechargable remotes, but gonna wait til i know one can be installed w/ no problems.

Went by one of the local security shops and they had an 09 ram sitting out front with a fully functional viper 5901 installed for a demo vehicle. I checked it out myself, i talked to them and they had no problems. All the required equipment is out there. Just need the bypass module and they had no problem getting it from their retailer.
