My 98 Ram had side molding stock. Black molding on a green truck.
Never really thought about whether it looked good or not...it was built that way.
Looked fine to me. It was a real WORK truck.
Did think it was a good idea to prevent door dings.

They should make body color ones available or maybe as an option.

I agree, I would love to have color matched door moldings. I think I am going to take the chrome door molds off, switch out my chrome door handles for color matched ones and just leave the side steps on. Already switched out the fuel door for a painted one. Does anyone have any tricks to taking the door molds off other than fishing line and a hair drier?

I personally don't care for the molding, which sucks because I really wanted it to look good. I'm looking for subtle chrome or red accents for my blue truck, I thought this would be perfect, but i drew it up and didn't like it. I think if it went wheel well to wheel well instead of just on the doors it would look better. Some trucks it looks good on, but mine, I think it would just look like I stuck something on it because I could. Have yet to decide if I feel the same way about the chrome fuel door or not. Guess I'll have to draw that one up as well.

I've never been a fan of chrome, but I must say, on my blue truck at least, the subtle accents I have look great to me. Chrome is one of those things that can definitely be overdone though, and that's how I feel about the side moldings. At least on mine.

Question same delima

I have the same delima. I ordered a 2010 laramie monotone white with the chrome accents group. I am not sure if I will like the moldings. I was also wondering what it takes to get them off. Is it and adhesive pad on the back or do they are plugs that go into the sheet metal.

The moldings use the 3M adhesive strip to mount to the truck. The one side of the strip is already attached to the molding. To mount you just remove the red tape and stick in place. My chrome door modling look great on my '09 4X4 Silver SLT.

sflindsey was talking about factory moldings. They can be ordered on the vehicle from the factory or added afterwards as a kit (which is probably why the install procedure was mentioned).

There are no holes in the body under the moldings. They are just stuck on with double-sided tape. You should be able to remove them with some dental floss or fish line and clean up the paint with some type of adhesive remover (WD-40, Goo Gone, etc) if you choose to remove them.
