1. Actually i have noticed a difference between the 3.55's and 3.92's ... it's enough to sway my decision towards the 3.92's ONLY in the new truck i get.

2. I haven't considered buying out of area and shipping becuase i want to take advantage of as many savings as possible on this new truck. That's why im racking myself to find the truck i want within my driving area.

3. Since my truck runs fine, I'm in no rush and won't ' settle '. So if i don't find the truck i want i'll have to waite. But if i waite, the fantastic deals that are going on now probably won't be in the near future. Once Dodge starts crankin out new 2010's after july, the promo's going on now will be gone. Rest assured.

so are you saying, if i get THIS truck, it will NOT have the light that shows when and when not the 4 vs 8 cylinders are working ?

thanks

Default Ordering what you want

I got a great deal on mine, ordered exactly to my specs. I did it ALL through email/internet. Emailed back and forth with a few dealers in different locations. One was even on East coast (I'm from Vegas). I was patient and just pretty much made them fight it out. My local dealer won, and then couldn't find exactly what I wanted, so we ordered. I pretty much had most of the deal done by then. Just stick to your guns and have a few dealers duke it out for your business. Don't be afraid to go outside the local area. I started with searches on eBay autos and the like and then contacted the dealerships directly. Shipping estimates for the dealer on East coast to Vegas were from $1100-$2800 (that was for an enclosed truck). So, if you can make it up on the deal, shipping is not a bad thing.

Oh, and I don't know about other models, but I ordered my Laramie with monotone paint. Most of them are ordered as two-tone, but it is a no-cost option.

I was in no rush either and wanted an 09 QC Sport 4x4, deep water blue color/black interior with hemi, 3.92LS, 20" rims and the duals, center console and this stitched dash and seats. Looked for months and I found that the websites for dealers in our area did not reflect their entire inventory either so I just visited them all and walked the lots over a 3 month time frame. End of February, I ended up with an SLT, build date of 12/08, but thought it was a Sport at first since it had the 25L package and painted bumpers/mirrors, mono tone interior and basically looked exactly like the blue sport in their 09 Ram brochure. It has everything I wanted ( and this little 'fuel saver' light that I never thought I wanted ). Dealer had two SLT's, a gray and blue one, with this 25L package. My previous truck was an F150 FX4 and it cost $2200.00 to regear with Yukon 4.56's ( too much gear I later realized ) and $800 for the stainless catbacks. Was not going to go aftermarket this time around since the stock setup from Dodge is fine for me.

keep looking and buy what you want, not what you settle for, since you appear to hold on to it for a while..

If you have access to the truck, a good way to check is that there is an additional booklet with the owners manual in the glove box specifically talking about the fuel saver light. You can only go by the build date as a general rule of thumb. If it was built prior to 11/08 then it definitely does not have the fuel saver light. If it was built in 11/08 - 1/09 then it might have it or it might not. Any truck built in 1/09 or later should have it. The reason there is a ~2 month window where you may or may not have it is because the fuel saver light was introduced at different times into their two different assembly plants where the Ram is built.
